3. Leilani

(Next Morning)

I walk downstairs to leave for school when I see mom sitting reading the newspaper "Good morning makuahine." I say while giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Aloha kakahiaka pēpē wahine(Good Morning baby girl)." she replies back.

"I know we didn't get a chance to talk about my change last night but I will come straight so we can talk about it."

"Okay Baby, Have a great day at school and don't forget you have to pick up Emilia for school. I love you baby girl."

"I love you to mom."  I reply walking out the door to head to Emilia's house to pick her up before school because my uncle Nathan is taking her Tahoe to the shop to get her tail light fixed and A oil change. She snatches my phone and changes the song from H.E.R. to Renni Rucci. I'm not in a mood to listen to rap music but I will allow her to listen to what she wants and leave her alone.

"Did you show your mom the shoes you bought? what did she think of them?" She ask while scrolling through my playlist.

"Nah, she was sleep when I got home so I didn't get to show her yet." I say 

"Oh. Well i'm pretty sure she will love them once she sees them. My mom is super excited about the baby coming, I think she might let daddy get her pregnant again in a few months."

"Grandad called last night and told dad that there is some weirdo causing trouble with some wares at the moment, telling people to call him alpha somewhere. They are trying their best to find him but he seems to be hiding out somewhere because he's hard to track down."

"Yeah I heard about him, His name is Achilles, or some s**t like that."

"I swear I can't wait to have my change so I can help control these f**kers, Those dan wares."

I glance at her while I frown "Hey, all wares aren't bad. it's just a few that claim to be bigger then what they are. Majority of wares want to live in peace." I swear I hate the way Emilia talks about our kind sometimes, s**t really p**ses me the f**k off when she acts like they are beneath us. My mom and dad don't even act like they are above other wares when they are sovereigns.

Classes go by quickly, and i'm honestly happy about that. I'm honestly here just for attendance since I will be out for a whole month. My dad has already sorted out my excuses for being out of school for a month after my birthday, Because they donate so much money to the school the faculty allows it and question it. Growing I've noticed that money can solve a lot of problems, which is really sad if you ask me.

After the bells ring I wait against the wall for Emilia at our usual spot by the entrance of the cafeteria. Of course she's running late which usually means she's running her d**n mouth so boy she knows or trying to get to know. I scroll through the news paper app when A article catches my attention. I always do this to see if I can pinpoint were a ware might be misbehaving . One article catches my attention; a massive amount of number people are going missing in Canada. I send the link to my dad telling him that could have something to do with the ware that's acting up. I look down the hall and lock eyes with Sebastian. He's got his arm around Breanna. Jealousy bubbles up inside of me and I swear I want to lose my S**t, but I try my best to swallow it down.  I look back at Breanna and roll my eyes at her, when I look back at Sebastian he's giving me a confused look and then narrow his eyes at me. My heart start beating so fast I swear everyone in the hallway can hear it beat inside my chest. I swear I could get lost in the depths of his eyes.... The closer he gets the stronger the scent of his cologne gets mixed with his natural scent. When ever he's around and I smell his scent it just does things to my body that I'm unfamiliar with, I'm a virgin but I really want him to tie me up and F**k me senseless when he's around.

He looks away as he passes me but bumps into me and I feel a jolt of electricity shoot through my whole body that makes gasp. He looks at me over he shoulder and blinks several times, but I just stare back at him looking confused. What the f**k was that?

"Hey Sis, ready to go eat? I'm starving." Milly says as she finally shows up.

"I am too, Where were you?" I snapped while she's pulling me in the cafeteria.

I get home around 3:30 after school. I can smell dad's smothered pork chops as soon as I walk in the foyer and I automatically knew that it was time to have our serious talk about my change. Dad always serves his chops green beans, and the best mashed potatoes in brown gravy. I drop my bag by the door and walk into to the kitchen. Mom and dad are sitting at the kitchen table with everything laid out ready for us to eat. My mouth instantly waters, I can't wait to make my plate and eat.

"Aloha, Māmā a me Pāpā(Hello, Mom and Dad)." I greet my parents and then go to the kitchen sink to wash my hands before sitting at the table with them.

"Good day?" mom ask before she hands me a plate.

"It's better now." Dad made a lot of food which is good for me.

"Dad made your favorites. I thought we could talk." she puts food on all of our plates, and I thank her. "You're welcome princess. So, do you have any questions or concerns about your change?"

"No, I don't have many" I say once I swallow the food in my mouth. Mmmm this is soooooooooo good. "I know it will happen around the time I was born and I know it's going to hurt like hell, UGH." 

"Are you worried about the pain?" My parents ask in unison.

"No, Not really... I mean it's not like I can take any pain pills to help with the pain?" They giggle

"No, you can't" Dad said.

"I'll sleep after my change, Right? If so how long?"

"Your mom slept for Two days, It really just depends on how quickly you recover."

"Okay." I say thinking.

"You have nothing to worry about we will take good care of you, So please do not worry" Mom says while grabbing my hand.

"I know you will, I'm not worried."

"Now you know after you wake up you might look different. Have you thought about that? I mean we don't know if it will definitely happen, but it's possible you could change in appearance, just be prepared just in case you do have some different feature, like your eye color could change depending on your mood instead of the seasons and maybe your hair."

"Like yours?" Mom has blonde and brown hair but it only appeared after her change.

"Yes. The blonde chunk came as a shock when I woke up." Mom says.

"Well, I love it.. you look extra sexy with it my love." Dad says to mom

"I mean I don't mind, It's not like I can do anything about it. Now can I? So no point in crying over spilled milk, Ya know."

"I swear this is the calmest I've ever seen someone days before their change." dad says.

"I mean I honestly don't want to waste my time worrying about things I can't control or do anything about." 

"Have you had any urges? No craving for meat yet? No s****l urges? What about your moods? We haven't noticed any mood swings yet, but we know you like to bottle your feeling up inside." Mom ask.

"No craving for meat, No mood swings at least not at the moment and No s****l urges not that I want to talk about that with my parents." I say rolling my eyes.

"Chile, please it is perfectly normal and I our nature to crave certain things leading up to your change, so you ain't gotta be shy around us about these things aight." Mom says.

"Aight,  just be prepared for all those things to sneak up on you the closer you get to your birthday. I swear it'll hit you out of nowhere like a Mack truck ."

"I am. Please don't mama everything is going to be fine and y'all prepared me for this for years, and that's one thing I can say I'm really grateful for. I'm ready mama & papa." I say kissing her cheek.

"Please come to us if you have other questions Lani, just ask us kamāliʻiwahine(Princess)." mom says.

"Is there anything you want for your birthday?" dad ask

"No not really, I mean a new car would be nice, but you guys can surprise me. Just not more clothes, shoes or jewelry. I have enough." I say while getting more pork chops and potatoes.

"So... We are free to get you anything we want?" 

"Yes!" 

They look at each other before look at me smiling. "What are you two up to?" I ask

"Nothing." they reply in unison.

We sit in silence, while my mind drifts off to Sebastian. What if he is my mate? I want to ask my parents so bad but I don't want them to jump to conclusions and think something is up. But I really need to under stand these feelings and emotions I have, they are so unsettling. After I finish my second plate of food, I decide to stop acting like a punk and ask them. "Mama, Papa how do you know if/when you have found your mate?" They snap their heads up and look at me with wides and that's when I knew that this is some serious s**t.

"If you're asking us questions about mates, then that means you think you might have found him/her." Dad says.

"Lani, I agree with Pāpā on this one." Mom says seriously before smiling.

"First off, what makes you think I know who he/she is? I mean I just asked a question."

"Bulls**t, don't give me that. You must've asked because you're feeling a certain type of way about some, right?" Mom says.

Bruh. I swear I hate that she knows s**t. I mean they both do. But even without her visions of me, she always seems to know things about me. I sigh. "Well, there is this guy at my school---" I couldn't even finish.

"Oh my goodness." Mom squeals while dad looks at me with a stern face.

"Mom, calm down geez."

Her eyes go wide I swear I feel like they are going to pop out of her head when I say that. "CALM DOWN? Do you know how huge of a deal this is??" 

"Yes, Mama that's why I asked."

"How does her smell? Does his scent make your heart beat fast?' Dad suddenly ask.

"What? How does he smell?" I ask frowning.

"Leilani, You heard me the first time. How does this boy smell when he's around?"

"Um... He smells.. Amazing."

"Oh goodness" Mom Squeals again.

"Mom, Chill. I refuse to be the reason my sibling comes early."

"Oh! hush Lani, I'm fine." She says while looking at dad.

"How do you feel when he's around you?"

"Well... honestly I feel everything. I feel nervous, scared, excited.. I feel like we are the only two in the world that exist." 

"Yes, he's your mate.. that's him. The attraction between two mates are undeniable. You will feel A unexplainable pull towards each other. You'll feel a need to be close them, you'll crave their physical touch. You'll lose all desire to be with someone else, intimately."

"Well, I mean I haven't been with anyone else so I wouldn't know about that last part. But I know I really feel like I like him."

"Have you spoken to him?"

"No, I kinda can't..." I say in a rush.

"WHAT! why not?" Mom as looking at me confused.

I look away and put my head down in shame instead of answering her question because I'm ashamed to tell them that he has a girlfriend and that I don't want to come in between their relationship.

As if realization hit them hit them at the same time. "He has a girlfriend, doesn't he?" they ask in unison.

"Ugh, Parents.. Sometimes I wish I wasn't an open book to them and dad wasn't so old and experienced in every d**n thing. I just nod my head while still having my head down.

Mom lifts my head up by my chin and looks at me with sad eye. "I'm sorry Ipo(Sweetheart), I Know that s**t sucks."

I let out a small giggle. "Yeah, it does but what can I do, plus I don't really know if he is my mate yet. I guess maybe I should actually try to talk to him soon. Hopefully he will be at Emilia's party on Saturday."

"Baby girl, the more you see him the stronger the pull will get as well as your connection to each other. Even if he is with someone else, he won't be able to stay away from you if he really is your mate." dad says.

"Okay, can we stop talking about this please until I figure everything out? this s**t.. I mean this stuff is kinda depressing."

"O que você quiser menina(Whatever you want, baby girl)."

"Are we done with our conversation? I want to go upstairs to shower and lay down?"

"Yes, go ahead and go upstairs if you don't have anymore questions. We love you Leilani." Mom says.

"I love you both, good night." I say kissing them both on the cheek before heading upstairs.
