5. Leilani

I woke up starving.

Meat Meat Meat Meat.

 I chant while putting on my robe to head downstairs, meat is all I can think about. More specifically Beef. Once the cravings of meat arrive, you are basically in countdown mode for your change. Mom was rare because only her parents were werewolves and she found out really late about her changing. Not only that females are rarely born to wares, that's why so many females get changed by their mates. But as you can see female births are quite common. Since both of my parents are ware, I was guaranteed to be one as well. Ever since I was a baby I was strong, My hearing and smelling senses are also heightened, but once I change everything would be heightened ten folds then what they are now

"Leilani." Mom calls from her room.

"Can't stop makuahine, I'm starving." I say.

I hear her coming out of her room as I reach the bottom of the stairs and before I knew it she was at the fridge passing me a bowl of cubed beef before I could reach the Island. 

"You know, for a pregnant woman you still move pretty fast." I say taking the bowl from her.

"Chile, please pregnancy might make me feel big and tired, but when it comes to my pēpē, nothing and I mean nothing can slow me down." She says while she kisses my forehead before turning the kettle on. "Would you like some coffee?" She ask.

I eat a piece of beef and feel my hunger instantly calm down. "Maikaʻi nō(So good), I can make that mom."

"Sit down and eat, You have to leave for school soon. Would you like some water as well?"

"Oui s'il te plaît." I say sitting back down at the table to finish my meat. I eat quickly and thank God that mom has her back to me.

"I remember my cravings. Lord, that beef your dad gave me the first time was life. It tasted so d**n good."

"Hmmm, The hunger comes so suddenly." I say nodding my head.

"It really does, also dad made a couple containers for you to take to school with you, please do not forget them." 

"I wont, So are you and dad managing to work through the whole issue with the vampire realm? How are y'all feeling about it?"

"We are getting through it, We aren't really left with much choice so we have made our decision. We have to protect our kind."

"Mom, Everyone knows how much you care and love wares, We also know how serious you and dad take your position. You could have said no because of your feelings about how they did Anakoni, but you will say yes because you are putting all ware before yourselves. That what a leader does and you and makua kāne are amazing leaders, so please don't feel bas."

"Look at you, all wise and giving good advice. Lord, I remember the day....."

"Mom, we will talk about this later. I do not want to be late for school." I say while giving her a kiss on the cheek before running upstairs.

(Later that day)

I wish I never came to school.

I was ahead in all my work because I will be out for a month and didn't want to be behind so class was boring as f**k. To make matters worse Sebastian left school after lunch and I noticed that Breanna wasn't around after lunch which means they skipped school together, Most likely to have s*x which pissed me the f**k off. 

Milly kept going on and on about her party tomorrow and it kinda made me feel bad because I wasn't more excited about it. I mean I'm excited it's her birthday but f**k I have my own d**n issues to deal with as well. I'm always there for her no matter what the cost, even if it hurts me my emotionally but right now I'm finding it hard. My impending change is consuming the f**k out of me and I need to put myself first this one time. JUST ONCE, I think about just how out of sync I am right now as I drive home. Maybe if I lost my virginity I would feel better.

"Leilani, It's Elena I need to speak with you." I hear inside my head.

"Elena." I exclaimed in surprise. I wonder what she wants with me? "I'm driving I'll pull over right now."

I pull over and find a place to park while waiting for Elena. "I wonder why she's coming to visit me? I hope it isn't about my situation with Sebastian." I think while frowning.

"Hello Leilani." She while appearing in the passenger seat. I have to admit that the thing she does with magic is pretty bada**

Hey Elena, Ummm... Is everything okay??": I ask.

"Please relax, Do not be alarmed and I am well thank you." She says while giving me a small smile.

"Okay, So what brings you here today?" I ask as I relax in her presence. A sudden sense of hunger washes over me so I grip the steering wheel tightly because it came so sudden. I definitely know that my change is days away.

"Are you hungry." 

"Yes!, I ate twenty minutes ago but I guess A doesn't count or satisfy a soon to be werewolf." My eyes light up when I see a bowl of raw beef in her hand. I feel like snatching the bowl out of her hand but don't want to be rude.

"Eat Leilani, You should not travel without food while you a mere days away from your change." 

"I know, Mama and daddy keep going on and on about it. They want me to skip school for awhile and study at home because they say I will. become unpredictable."  But f**k I'll miss Sebastian. I think while popping the first piece of beef in my mouth and taste the coppery juice of the blood on my tongue. I swear beed has never tasted so freaking good.

"Have you spoken to him yet." Elena ask.

"NO." I  say after eating the last few pieces of beef and hand her back the bowl. I kinda feel disappointed that I ate all the meat, I wonder if she can make some more appear. "Elena, could you magic me up some more beef please? It tasted amazing." 

"Why not?" She ask refilling the bowl and passing it to me.

"Because, he has a girlfriend and I'm not a home wrecker and plus I don't know if I like him because he's sexy as hell, or if it's because he is my mate. Seriously Elena he's just so perfect... I think I'm obsessed with him." I say while blushing really hard. "I can barely look at him, let alone talk to him... My heart beats erratically whenever I'm around him. He has these mesmerizing eyes that looks straight through my soul and has the most perfect caramel skin." I quickly stop when I realize I'm rambling. I pop some more meat in my mouth instead. He looked so d**n good this morning, especially in his new trench coat. I wonder what his body looks like naked. I start coughing because I know Elena must have heard that.  

"Sorry Elena, I didn't mean to let my thoughts go down the gutter. It's my body, it's like my body has a mind of its own now a days.... If you know what I mean?"

"Please do not apologize, that is quite normal for you to feel that way. Your change is very close and the urges to be intimate with someone will consume you. You are still a virgin correct?" She ask giving me a genuine smile.

"Yes, But not from the lack of trying though." I confess.

"You should tell him how you feel, Trust your heart and feelings. I'm certain he will feel that same way." She says.

I nod as I eat the last of the beef. I will tell him, but even if I did surely wares can't have s*x with humans. "What if I hurt him?" I ask

"Leilani, yes you are strong, but you are still human for now. After your change it will be a little difficult to have s*x with a human. However, You will be able to cope better than most." She says

"What do you mean Elena?" I ask frowning. I hope she tells me I'm going to pick up being a ware quickly like mom.

Elena blue eyes turn black as she gives me a cautious look. "Leilani, Do you remember the words I spoke to you when you were born? "Hush now little one, For now you have arrived. Remember my name, Elena and know one day I  will return..."

"And give you a gift of magic."  I finish with wide eyes. WHAT THE F**K?  "How in the hell do I remember that? I was only a couple minutes old?" 

"Leilani, When you turn twenty you gain the ability of magic. I also made sure you remember those words."

I remember as a child, I always said those words like they were a nursery rhyme. They were soothing and somewhat familiar, I thought it was just a dream."

"No my child it was not, You will one day become an Elder of wares. How do you feel about that?" She ask.

"Me?... Ummm Oh f**k, Me an elder? Magic? Are you being serious Elena?" I ask

She looks amused by my reaction. "Yes, Very serious. Your family need a elder and I can't always be here in the human realm all the time."

"What will my mom and dad say though?" I asked feeling excited and nervous at the same time. "I can't believe I'll have magic"  I think.

"I will speak to them when the times come, please do not worry about that for now. You do not have to tell them until the time is right. I will not speak a word to them until you have done so, But regarding Sebastian, once you have told him how you felt and you have went through you change your magic will help you control your emotions and strength. As you can see, you have nothing to fear my child about talking to him."

"Oh okay, that makes perfect sense. Mom has given me the talk and so has dad, I know the desire is hard to control." I say as I pass her the bowl of beef. I feel so full but the bowl is still full even after I ate loads of it.

As she makes the bowl disappear she says "If it would make you feel. better I could erase his memory of you telling him how you feel if for whatever reason your feelings aren't reciprocated." 

"Yes, that would be amazing, I wouldn't have to worry about being embarrassed if he doesn't feel the same or rejects me. I mean he already has a girlfriend."

"I see." She says not making me feel bad about it, Which I'm very grateful for because I'm so hopeless right now and don't need to add to it. "Give it time, Your life will soon fall into place. She adds. Somehow I believe her when she says that.

"I hope you are right."

"I'm certain I am. So, tell me has your parents came to a decision about the bane? She ask.

I feel a sense of change in our relationship, as if I'm her equal now that I will becoming A elder.

"I'm not certain, They have had some pretty heated discussions about it, I know mom is worrying. I wish I had my change already so I could give you the bane and left them out of it.

"Well.... That was my intention at first to do that, But princess Akila is running out of time. It's not only her that is in danger and without the bane she cannot defeat her enemies."

"That realm sounds so d**n messy. What are they like?"

"They are like you in a way. When you look at them you wouldn't know what they are." 

"Do they have fangs?"

"Yes, But they do not show all the time."

"So, they show and hide them like I read in books. Don't they drink blood as well?"

"Yes."

"Will I be able to meet them one day?" Kinda hope I do.

"Yes, You most likely will. You will have to travel between both realms as I do. We have a long journey ahead of us with teaching you your magic."

"I still can't believe I'll be getting Magic, WOW. I'm going to be like a hybrid of a werewolf and witch.... This is crazy."

Her blue eyes suddenly turn black and start swirling. That usually happens before something important comes up and she has to leave. "I have to go now, I will leave you to continue your journey home. I must go to speak to your parents.

"Bye Elena, good Luck." I say starting my car back up.

"Thank you." She says before disappearing.

Once I make it home my parents seem more relaxed, I guess they made peace with their decision to give bane to Princess Akila. I took my time coming home after sitting on the side of the road. I still can't believe I'm going to be an elder, this s**t is so d**n crazy. I've decided not to tell my makua(parents) just yet. I mean I'm still in disbelief and I kinda want to just keep it to myself for now just so I can come to terms with all this new information. I mean, it's already unbelievable that I'm going to be a werewolf next week, but to be a magical werewolf is crazy. I really need some to come to terms with it.
