MAY 1942
Most of 1941 passed without incident after the tragedy of losing Cousin Graham. Well, from a personal, family point of view that is. Internationally the big event of the year was on December 7th when the Japanese invaded Pearl Harbour, attempting to destroy the United States Fleet and triggering the entry of the USA into the war. With the Japanese trying, unsuccessfully, to cripple the USA fleet and Hitler trying to destroy Russia and seize their oilfields, things were certainly reaching white hot heat in this savage war.
Back at home my father returned on three more occasions, usually with forty eight hour passes. He would take us out to parks and, occasionally, the cinema for family type movies where all four of us would be in attendance.
