AUGUST 1942 An incendiary bomb hit my grandmother"s house in Holloway on a Friday night in August but both she and my aunt were taken safely to a shelter immediately and were not injured. When the policeman knocked at the door to give my mother the news she panicked at first but calmed down when she was assured that both women were safe without so much as a scratch on either of them. They had been taken to the shelter for safety reasons while the house was examined although it was thought that little damage had been done. It could take a while to repair though.
