MAY 1943 I suppose it was bound to happen eventually. I had been getting away with going off on my own for hours at a time and taking myself to places I shouldn"t have been and getting away with it all. That all came to an end one hot May day when we were let out of school early having had a couple of air raids during the day and been sitting in the corridor for long periods. The raids appeared to be miles away and no danger to us but you never could tell.
