JUNE 1944
I stopped dead in my tracks at the kitchen door and mother rushed up behind me.
"For God"s sake Edgar," she shouted, agitated in the extreme. "You frightened the life out of us."
"Oh dear, I am sorry," he replied. "But finding you all out I thought you wouldn"t mind me letting myself in with the spare."
Mother took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. Paula seemed to have got over her initial shock and was suddenly telling Edgar all about the Bomb that gets up and flies itself to England to kill people and we all had to hide in a shop to prevent being blown to smithereens and Mum and Bobby were scared stiff and she was a bit frightened herself.
"Wow, slow down a bit Paula," Edgar said, still looking very amused.
