APRIL 1941 There was definitely a diminution in the number of air raids and bombs dropped on London in April. We didn"t know what was going on at the time, all we knew was that our nights were less disruptive and it began to seem more like the life we had all known before September 1939. The wireless news broadcasts too were more optimistic with frequent reports of successes for RAF fighter Command and the welcome reports of many enemy aircraft being destroyed. Mrs. McKenzie next door voiced the opinion that Hitler had learned that he couldn"t bomb us into submission and the RAF had got the Hun on the run, as she so colourfully put it.
