Still a Problem pt. 1

Preston fell asleep with Piper. I woke up and trailed my fingers on her perfect skin. A letter floated to me and I knew it was charmed. That meant it would be from my mom. Bernard chucked, “That’s true.” I read the card.

Preston,

If you leave opposite the way you entered, you’ll end up near Piper’s apartment. Yes, I know she’ll catch on. Your mate is quite smart, but I think she should know. For several reasons but maybe seeing things that are Supernatural in her natural environment will jog her memory all on its own.

So, it’s a loophole. We aren’t telling her about the Supernatural, we are giving clues about the world that is around Piper. Obviously, we can’t lie to her but just be there for her. I think without telling Piper, we can give her clues. Her mind will accept the Supernatural and she might be thinking she’s crazy given her instincts anyway. So, I’m f*****g helping.

There is a duffle bag for Piper at the end of the bed. She had her friend have to get the goodie bags. Plus, I’m sure she needs some damn clothes to wear home. I hope you had fun yesterday!

Mom

Never in my life had I doubted my mother and I wasn’t about to start now. Bernard reasoned, “Plus, mom would never do anything to hurt mate.” No, that wasn’t something my mom was even remotely capable of. Bernard agreed, “It’s a good loophole.” Yes, it is but I can’t say that surprised me. Mom’s brain always came up with things like that. I probably would’ve if I wasn’t so close to the situation.

When Piper woke up I realized my mom was right. Piper called out that I didn’t sleep much, she’d already noticed that. Bernard purred, “Mate is so observant.” Yes, she was. It should be obvious Piper would notice her own sleep pattern of needing less than the eight hours humans would tell her she needed.

I noticed the frustration on her face, but before I could figure that out her phone rang. Her coach was calling. I linked Alexander, “Why does this tournament in California reek of your mate?” Alexander answered, “The Rebels are playing in California." I snorted, “You’re joking. I thought that was here.”

Alexander replied, “Well, Kai’s family is from California and it wasn’t fair that Piper’s team wasn’t invited because everyone knew with Piper and Remi, they’d win. Plus, they don’t want dad to win because they are jealous. There were a whole lot of reasons this was all very fair.”

I snorted, “What’s the actual reason?” Alexander replied, “I didn’t get it yet. There are reasons on reasons, but it’s not fair that the team wasn’t invited because Remi and Piper are talented.” That was true.

I linked Alexander, “I bet the free night aligns with the concert, doesn’t it?” Alexander answered, “So, the concert is when the same night the tournament ends. It should wrap up by the latest two o’clock in the afternoon.”

I asked, “Where are they staying?” Alexander replied, “Well, the hotels were all booked but Melanie owns a hotel there because Everly’s home pack is there and it was reasonable to have a hotel there.”

I snorted, “Sure.” I linked CJ and Nico, “Why is it reasonable Melanie would own a hotel near Everly’s home pack?” CJ answered, “To see Kai and future nieces and nephews when they weren’t near Red Run.”

Nico agreed, "Definitely that. It was probably a plan to meet them at some point.” Alrighty then. Piper easily caught onto the fact this was Melanie's doing. Bernard snorted, “Because you told her why we’d be there.” Which she would’ve found out about.

The clothes were obviously designed to make my d**k jump. Bernard growled possessively, “Ours.” Yup. I took her the opposite way and felt us leave the enclosure to Piper’s apartment.

Bernard commented, “Mom was right.” I asked, “When is mom wrong?” Piper had caught on and she accepted it too. My mate’s mind wanted and enjoyed the Supernatural being around her even if she didn’t remember.

I would’ve warned Karl about the Rebels concert if we could link. His eyes widened and Remi actually squealed so loudly that I covered my ears. Alexander linked, “I heard that from downstairs.” I asked, “Why are you downstairs?!”

Alexander answered, “That question has so many answers to it, but I’ll see you shortly to invite your mate and her friend to the concert.” I told him, “I did that.” Alexander said, “Yes, but my mate has flyers for them.” Of course Melanie did.

I linked my big brother back, “My mate has clocked the s**t out of your mate organizing this whole thing.” Alexander laughed, “Melanie told me that she probably would. I’ve seen that table based on Piper’s intelligence. Don’t deny it. That apparently insults someone of her intelligence level.”

I snorted, “I can’t lie and I know it’s the damn truth. Everyone in this room knows. Karl looks like he might burst into laughter at any given moment. Also, I smell you.” Alexander laughed, “I’m in the hallway.” I snorted, “Reeking of your mate.”

Alexander smugly said, “She’s with me.” Well, he still reeked of her. Piper opened the door. Bernard snorted, “Freya is already saying her human is going to give away so many things.” That was the least surprising thing I’d heard in quite some time.

I linked Alexander, “Your mate OPENED with trying to lie?” Alexander purred, “Isn’t she adorable.” Bernard snorted in my head. I linked my brother again, “Pull the ripcord, man. Your mate couldn’t talk her way out of this if she tried. I actually think she is trying and it’s honestly sad.”

Alexander laughed, “My mate wants yours to like her.” I replied, “Your mate got mine a trip to California. I think she’s cemented in the liking Melanie column” Alexander reasoned, “That’s fair and logical since Piper can’t be teleported yet. She had to have a reason to fly there and her team wouldn’t have excused her. This is the best way.” I laughed, “Of that I have no doubt.”

When Melanie nearly gave away my dad owned the university I linked Alexander, “For f**k’s sake, kiss your wife!” Alexander chuckled and swooped in. Bernard said, “Oden is quite happy that he’s called on to do that.” I’m sure he was.

Piper thanked Melanie who then tried to deny her involvement. I linked Alexander again, “This is truly sad.” Alexander just smirked. I linked Julian and William, “You need to tell both your mates that Melanie is getting WORSE at lying.”

Julian replied, “They’ve noticed.” William laughed, “Anastasia is asking how bad.” I replied, “She’s been trying to lie to Piper who clocked her ass. Melanie’s voice is somehow squeaking and cracking at the same time.”

William told me, “This is making Anastasia’s day. Somehow my mate accessed camera feeds in your mate’s hallway. We are watching this whole thing. My god, you aren’t even kind of exaggerating.”

I asked, “What in the f**k was that sentence?!” Julian agreed, “Yeah, what?” William said, “The watch somehow let my mate see the feeds and get sound.” I groaned, “We need to know what all they know about this watch. William, get on that. Your mate is the one not hiding, they watch the feeds.” William laughed, “I’m on that.”

Bernard laughed, “Freya said she tried to get Melanie not to mention the hotel that she obviously doesn’t own.” I actually rolled my eyes. I linked my brother, “What two airlines does yours basically own?” Alexander replied, “I don’t know. I’ll find out.”

Melanie squeaked out her excuse to leave. I linked dad, “The volleyball team is taking our private jet, aren't they?” Dad answered, “One of them, yes.” Naturally. Bernard said, “I do like that better. Mate will be safer.”

Plus, anyone watching her will realize she’s very insulated and protected by my family now. Bernard growled, “Ninko.” Yeah, that rat bastard and I were going to have issues. I linked William and Julian, “My mate is catching onto the fact Melanie is taking classes to meet her.”

William replied, “Melanie deserves to take some college classes.” I knew that. Julian added, “Val is really excited about it for Melanie. Plus, she’s taking them in the Hackura realm too.” I was fully aware of that.

I linked Angela, “Does Melanie ever stop squeaking Uncle Gunner’s name?” Angela replied, “Not in any path I’ve seen so far. He’s like a rockstar to her.” I nearly laughed. Then Piper screamed but it wasn’t in pain. It was one of terror.

I snarled and linked my family, “I need you on standby, something scared my mate!” I was looking around the room and I felt Julian and William outside the door ready to break it down and come in.

I quickly realized what was going on. I linked Melanie, “Can my mate get visions?” Melanie replied, “So… maybe.. .someone looked up the powers…. That she has and…” I cut her off, “Melanie, I know you did. Just tell me.”

Melanie replied, “If blood has been spilled Piper can see what happened." I asked, “So, she’s getting her memory back?” Melanie answered, “Well… that has been happening yes… but technically… no it’s still yes.”

I linked the family, “All clear, it was a memory of Remi being taken.” Everyone relaxed in the bond. The story Piper had been told didn’t match what she remembered. Bernard said, “We might need to take over so no one lies to mate about this.” Or we could get Melanie back to explain it.

Remi was quick on her feet though. Bernard agreed, “Mate has a great friend.” Yes, she did. Remi was able to explain it all without lying and easing Piper into the situation. Piper made the noise that angry Kitsunes do.

I asked my wolf, “Bernard?” Bernard answered sadly, “Sora is not awake.” Damn it! Piper was clearly forming a plan, but I wasn’t sure what it was. Bernard grumbled, “If mate was awake, I could tell you.” I knew that.

The week passed in a haze of activity. The amount of signs with glitter glue on them was insane. Hazel was over here too. I grabbed Nathan McDermont. Nathan asked, “Yes?” I said, “Piper remembered something she did with one of her powers.”

Nathan asked, “How did that go?” I admitted, “Remi didn’t lie and explained Piper has some type of psychic ability.” Nathan shrugged, “That’s a valid way to explain it.” I agreed, “It definitely was. Remi is fast on her feet.” Nathan nodded, “It does seem that way.” I left them to make their posters.

Piper called and I knew she’d be boarding soon. I’d sent a car to take them to the airport. I linked Melanie, “You gave my mate a watch?” Melanie replied, “I mean… yes.. .her serum isn’t ready yet…I’m working on it…BUT the watch does have adrenaline…so… that’s good.. .and Anastasia and Val said Piper’s teammates suck. I need more data.”

I snorted, “You’re going to listen to her conversations?” Melanie replied, “No… not exactly… I coded…the system to let me know…if someone is mean… that’s not actively listening… it’s protecting… which is TOTALLY different.”

I asked, “What is the system's name?” Melanie squeaked, “Name? What? I.. .umm… that’s…name….that….is logical….but….. whhhhaaatttt?” I cut her off, “Good lord calm down. It’s fine.” Someone else was going to have to tell us that damn name.

CJ came up to me saying, “So, your mate is going to have quite the room. They have a private hot tub and pool. There’s also a chef being provided who got a very detailed color coded food schedule so Piper and Remi hit their necessary macro and micros.” I laughed for a solid minute.

Julian, William, and I hung out. Anastasia was everywhere in private and I knew it bothered William. I linked Julian, “Let’s pop to California." We had a house there.

We popped William there. My brother asked, “What?” He was testy.” Bernard agreed, “As is Titan.” I handed him the whiskey I conjured and he slammed it. I urged, “Tell us.” William shouted, “My mate is hidden and content to be in the damn shadows, but I’m not!”

I reasoned, “She won’t have to be.” Bernard agreed, “She won’t.” William groaned, “Ana thinks she needs to be. My mate thinks it will take centuries to repair the relationship with other Supes and the Hunters. I’m not having my damn family be in the shadows.”

I jolted, “Family? Anastasia is pregnant?” William answered, “Not yet but we don’t want to wait that long.” Julian said, “I think you’re not focused on the face Melanie will never let that happen. She’ll have some big plan for the reveal.”

I agreed, “There is no way Melanie would let one of her friends live in the shadows.” William sighed, “I guess you are right. Are you staying here with us, Preston?” The family would be staying here since this was our house.

I shrugged, “I’m not sure what the team rules are.” I popped out and grabbed Karl and popped back. I admitted, “I don’t know if we are staying with Remi and Piper.” Karl held out two keys to a room, “We in fact are. I have copious amount of research in a folder delivered with the keys about how being with us will give our mates endorphins which will help them win.”

I replied, “Melanie already said the team was going to win.” Karl nodded, “Yes, but there are factors to it happening faster. Woe to anyone who gets the team off your sister in law’s timeline.” I admitted, “That actually makes sense.”

Melanie called me. I answered, “Yes, sister in law of mine who runs the world.” Melanie grumbled, “I don’t know why people say that… I don’t… I could try… with as much as I’m accused… Piper and Remi are checked in… so you could go see them… Karl… is with you… so he totally told you.. .about the keys.”

I asked, “How did you know who was with me?” Melanie hummed, “He’s wearing… his watch… so…I looked it up. So… the front desk told them it was… a room given away deal… so they don’t know it was me. The odds Piper figures it out…are high so… bye!” Melanie hug up.

Piper called and had in fact figured out Melanie owned the hotel. Bernard purred, “Our mate is smart.” Yes, and that was going to be a problem when she was around Melanie because they would combine their intelligence and that meant we were all f****d.

Karl said, “So, you got folders too.” I replied, “No, my Beta did. I’m guessing you got them because you’re a Gamma.” Karl laughed, “Probably, yes.” We had a few drinks before I snapped us into swim trunks then popped us to the hotel.

We walked in and were greeted, “Karl and Preston, this way please.” Karl said, “I’d ask how they know us on sight, but I know the answer.” Yeah, so did I. I linked Alexander, “Has anyone mentioned your mate is terrifying?”

Alexander answered, “Yes, but my mate also gave Karl research about how an orgasm before the games start in the morning will be good for your mates.” I snorted. I asked, “So, you have research on orgasms per game?” Karl wiggled his eyebrows, “I was getting there.” I threw my head back and laughed.

Karl said, “Joe is popping my family and Remi’s in.” I nodded, "I'm sure they will have fun since my family and their smattering of signs are coming.” Karl laughed, “Your mom called Remi and mine so they could make signs. It wouldn’t be fair if they didn’t know.” I admitted, “That’s true.”

A butler greeted us. I linked CJ, “You didn’t mention the butler.” CJ replied, “There is a chef, Preston. I kind of thought the rest was implied. This is a high end hotel Melanie owns.” Did she own non-high class hotels?

Bernard snorted, “Who cares go see mate?” I snapped our shirts off and we walked out onto the deck. We hung out in the hot tub. I linked Melanie, “This view is amazing, but something tells me you know that.”

Melanie agreed, “I do… yes… that’s… the point.” Of course it was. I glanced at Remi when someone said their teammate called mine a gold digger. Bernard growled, “KILL THEM!” I linked Melanie, “Someone called my mate a gold digger.”

Melanie replied, “I know… then she checked into a room.. In a hotel… that I own… that was a choice…. That one could call stupid… which my brother said isn’t fair… because… she didn’t know it was my hotel…or that I heard her call my sister in law… a gold digger.”

I growled, “Where is this teammate?” Melanie answered, “Currently her room… she’s not going to play… because she’s a setter… and Piper is better…. But she’s not even the backup setter… so… when she doesn’t play she’ll transfer this evening…. And be in the Hackura realm… with Sarah… Anastasia and Val didn’t like her… so I submitted her transfer paperwork … to a fake university…. In the middle of nowhere… that exists on paper…for me to transfer people to…while I hold them prisoner. Which…Tasha also submitted….that’s who called your mate a gold digger.” Bernard growled in my head.

I replied, “Thanks. Are either of those girls human?” Melanie answered, “Uhhh no… I might have killed one that was.. ..allegedly… but that wasn’t my fault.” I snorted, “Naturally. Thanks for getting them to the Hackura realm.”

Melanie grumbled, “If the human ones… would work with me…some of them would be there too….I guess you can actually scare them to death… who knew?” Based on her tone, Melanie did know that.

The dinner was delicious. I took Piper to bed. When it was time to wake up, I gladly woke her up with an orgasm. Their uniforms were Alpha wolves so I was prepared to be annoyed except the wolf on Piper’s sweat suit was my wolf.

Bernard said, “Mate is wearing ME!” I linked Alexander, “YOUR MATE HAD MY WOLF PUT ON MY MATES UNIFORM!” Alexander laughed, “That does sound like Melanie.” I attacked her until we had to go eat breakfast.

We left the girls in the lobby. I popped Karl to the conversion center where everyone was. I said, “Melanie, my wolf is on Piper’s sweat suit.” Melanie hummed, “Her uniform too… so…did you not see it? It’s also on her luggage…and backpack…and everywhere there is a wolf.”

I stared at Alexander who smirked. Tristan snorted, “Melanie Jane.” Melanie asked, “What? I had… several tables that said Preston would react… poorly to a black wolf… that was not Bernard…on her person…so…it’s the animated….version of Bernard…and Bernard likes it… he already told Freya…..so I’m right. Piper would’ve missed her tournament…because he would still be claiming her.”

“Eric would’ve had to go get him…and Pernell…would’ve turned a shade people should not turn….which I was not opposed to….if we are being honest… it was a small factor that made me contemplate…not doing it…because he gives horrible descriptions….of people… for me to find…but ultimately….it was better for Preston… which is why I did it.”

Julian and William linked me cackling. I asked, “Is Piper’s uniform different from her team's?” Melanie replied, “Not in a way humans would notice….but like Supernaturals will notice it’s you…which my tables say you’ll also like.” Bernard agreed, “I do like that, a lot.” Yeah, I did too.
