Fleur sighed, “I didn’t know. I do know that she had to prove how I was being treated and my death was being faked.” Mom said, “I’d bet that was Operation Saint Rita then.” Fleur shrugged, “I don’t know.”
Jullian offered, “I’ll go talk to the friend and get the contact.” Mom said, “It will already be f*****g burned. They were watching and know that we have her now. I think I’ll do more than some damn hijinks if Operation Saint Rita was willing to fake the death of the Pallas Cat Princess.”
I asked, “Is her stepsister named Princess?” Mom answered, “No.” Fleur laughed humorlessly, “It’s the one thing they couldn't get because she doesn’t have my mom’s blood. She was the ruler, not my dad. So, no matter how many times they tried to change the laws to make her a Princess too it couldn't happen. The law was upheld and resolute. Even Sherman agreed.”
Uncle Aiden questioned, “The Supernatural Council heard line legitimacy and designation hearing?” Fleur answered, "Multiple times.” Uncle Aiden’s eyes darkened with anger. Aunt Lucinda squealed, “Little Fleur! Aiden, look at her!” They knew her?
Aunt Lucinda said, “You are wearing your mother’s dress! You look stunning.” Fleur curtsied, “Queen Lucinda.” Lucinda waved, “None of that. I quite enjoyed your mother. I am so glad you are here. Every time I requested to visit you, you were off traveling for your Kingdom. You need to have some fun.”
I told Uncle Aiden, “They lied to Aunt Lucinda. They were treating Flower here horribly and committed blood offenses Herman pushed off.” Aunt Lucinda gasped and actually dropped her glass.
Aunt Lucinda said, “Regent Mern would…” I snorted, “He got p***y whipped by the best friend.” Aunt Lucinda sighed, “I never liked her.” Fleur commented, “Me either.” I said, “Their crimes against Flower were reprehensible. I need to speak with Uncle Bjourn.”
Julian offered, “I’ll go get Flower set up with mom. We can get her an outfit for the party if she wants to join.” They walked off and men shouted out to Fleur and threw flowers at her feet. I took out my phone and took a video of Fleur blushing and picked up the flowers. She waved back at several men who called out hopes to see her later.
William said, “You did a good thing.” I told Uncle Aiden, “I kind of didn’t do the mission at all. I want to say I’m sorry, but I’m not.” Uncle Aiden laughed, “Preston, in what world did you not do the mission? I have the Pallas Cat Princess here as a liaison. She knows a lot about the Supernatural Council.”
Uncle Aiden added, “The Pallas Cat’s will now fall over themselves to do whatever I want in the hopes Fleur will speak to them.” I questioned, “Could they have been influenced to turn on her?” Bernard scoffed, “Don’t give them an out.”
Uncle Aiden assured me, “I’ll have it all investigated.” William added, “The scene was definitely made. We used a bunch of charms that will continue as the party does. P also got the Hackura license to investigate the families on the Council.” Uncle Aiden chuckled, “I got that with the blood offense comment. That was a smashing success. Go talk to your Hackura Uncle. Then remind him Haley would adore his presence here.”
I laughed, “Some of them will come.” Uncle Aiden replied, “They could all come and leave Lief in charge since I know he won’t come.” Uncle Lief wasn’t in the capitol often, but he’d never come to Faerie. He probably wouldn’t unless any of us were in danger either.
I clapped William on the back and we popped to Uncle Bjourn. He quickly told those in his meeting, “Leave.” Uncle Bjourn’s secretary smirked at us. Uncle Bjourn commented once everyone left, “I heard you caused quite the ruckus.”
Hark faded in arms crossed. I grinned, “What? I hardly planned to find everything I did. I simply danced with a beautiful woman who was quite sad.” Hark rolled his eyes. Bernard chuckled, “Our guard is not amused at all.”
Well, he knew I was going out for Uncle Aiden. I told Uncle Bjourn, “I’m not sure if you got all the details.” Uncle Bjourn snorted, “No, the angry Pallas cat you shoved through was dragged to the dungeons while she screamed you stole from her. She was quickly knocked out.”
I laughed, “She’s uneducated on other Supernaturals. That is the Stepdaughter to the Regent of the Pallas cats. His daughter is now the liaison to Faerie and mom is pissed at them. They committed blood offenses against the Princess of the Pallas Cats. Sherman did nothing.”
Uncle Bjourn’s eyes blazed, “Fleur was mistreated? She’s always traveling when we meet with them. Which I thought was more her being intimidated rather than she was traveling.”
I snorted, “They lied to you, Uncle. Fleur does not travel nor was she intimidated. They have mistreated her for ten years and kept her away so you didn’t find out. They held her down and withdrew her blood for a decade making her cat weak enough mom needs to heal her.”
Uncle Bjourn ground his jaw, “That makes Haley’s emotions make sense.” I said, “They shoved her aside for the stepsister. They all acted as if she was honestly a servant. Her fiancée left her for the stepsister and it sounded like he planned to keep her on the side.”
Uncle Bjourn scoffed, “I see.” William added, “We think Operation Saint Rita was stepping in. Fleur said she was leaving tonight either way and her death was being faked.” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “I agree that was likely them then. God, the world has gone mad.”
I shrugged, “Yes, but now you get to investigate the families holding Supernatural Council seats. They were mistreating their daughter and committed a blood offense. They also heard petitions to make the stepsister a Princess too.”
Uncle Bjourn laughed, “Herman said no because if they had tried to change that, we would’ve stepped in and taken Fleur. They would’ve had to produce her for us. We also would’ve struck down that ruling. While I do not agree titles should be withheld to stepchildren, the Pallas cats laws on it are absolute.”
I snorted, “You’d agree in this case. They literally let that woman lose her mother then orchestrated everything that was hers being taken. Her childhood sweetheart, her room, her mother’s things, and her fiancé." William added, “Not to mention the love of her father and brothers. She didn’t just lose her mother, she lost her entire family.”
Bernard took over growling, “To ladder climbers. That woman was Claudzilla personified.” Uncle Bjourn said, “Then we will kill her. I’ll send someone to do so right now. I will have the family brought up on charges as well. Katie can investigate if magic was used.”
I admitted, “It kind of sounds like Uncle Aiden planned to do that.” Uncle Bjourn confirmed, “I’d imagine he does. Lucinda and the former Pallas Cat Queen were acquaintances, maybe even friends.”
I snorted, “Then they are f****d because they lied to Aunt Lucinda about Fleur.” Uncle Bjourn snorted, “Great. I’ll hear about that because she’ll tell my mate and now I’m pre-pissed the f**k off.” I shrugged, “You should be.”
Uncle Bjourn asked, “Why did you approach her?” I answered, “She was sad, beautiful, and all alone. I don’t ignore jewels because everyone else is.” Uncle Bjourn chuckled, “Smart man.” I was also single, I just wasn’t an asshole. Fleur needed stability and not someone taking advantage.
I admitted, “I plan to be her friend.” Uncle Bjourn nodded, “You could always introduce her to Keaton.” I admitted, “If he wasn’t so back and forth on Lisa, I would. Fleur needs confidence, not someone who can’t quit a bitch.”
Bernard huffed, “If only.” Yeah, if the situation was different then I could offer that up but I didn’t currently want Fleur near that vapid b***h named Lisa. Fleur needed her confidence back, she didn’t need it torn to shreds by that manipulative shrew.
Uncle Bjourn asked, “Are you sure the stepsister was engaged to Fleur’s intended? Because there has been no filing to break their engagement.” I snorted, “They FILED it?!” Uncle Bjourn answered, “Fleur’s mother did, and the penalty for choosing another over Fleur is steep.”
I blinked, “Did they know that?” Uncle Bjourn replied, “Herman should’ve and the man and his family signed it.” I scoffed, “They really think they can get away with everyone.” Aaron walked in and grinned, “They will find that’s not true. We have fines for disrespecting our Duke and the paperwork for choosing another over Fleur.”
I assured him, “I’ll be a witness that he claimed he was going to have them both.” William hummed, “I think he will say he was saying he was the stepsister’s fiancé and their wedding would've been faked. He would’ve still married Fleur.”
Uncle Bjourn laughed, “Good instincts. He won’t get around us with that though and I will put the screws to Regent Mern for agreeing. I’ll be finding a mentor for the Crown Prince since I no longer wonder why he’s not ready to rule. He’s a boy playing at a man’s game.”
Uncle Bjourn stood with Aaron. I told him, “Mom would love to see you in Faerie later.” Uncle Bjourn laughed, “I’ll stop by with good news about how she can go hijinks on their ass after I made them feel smaller than an ant for their actions.”
Uncle Bjourn clapped me on the shoulder, “Good job, P.” I smiled, “Thanks, Uncle Bjourn.” I still didn't feel like I’d the mission Uncle Aiden asked, but I’d helped Fleur get away and keep her title. She’d be able to live a big life and get help for the abuse she’d suffered.
I’d done something my Hackura family had done for my mom. Unlike everyone who watched my mom be abused, I saw something and I took charge. I did what should’ve been done and that was what mattered today. I would always stand up to injustices because of the blood running through my veins and what happened to my mom. It wasn’t going to happen again. Not on my watch.
We are causing chaos for Faerie. Honestly, Aiden should've been meaner LOL The party went a bit differently than Preston planned. Fleur caught his eye and everyone treated her horribly. Was it magic? Or were they just dumb and easily misguided? Every time you thought we learned more about her and how she was treated they sank lower.
Bjourn was denied access as was Lucinda. One could say Aiden had another motivation for his Nephew's attending this party, and it all went down probably how he though it could once they met her. Now, the Pallas Cat Princess is off in Faerie to focus on herself.
What do you think happened to the others? Bjourn was able to investigate other families, but Herman knew he was coming. Could they clean house? Or did Bjourn get to flex his power and remove more family members? Was Operation Saint Rita getting ready to pull Fleur out? Or was it someone else? Where is Fleur now :) These are questions.
