Piper enjoyed letting Preston take control. Everyone once of this man was like full on raw Alpha male in this moment and I loved it. I had no idea what language he was speaking but I knew the word Amor was love. He should’ve been able to look like he does and speak other languages. It was wholly unfair to my lady parts.
I was near orgasm level and begged him to say more. I nearly got taken out of the moment because I thought Sora would be proud of me. God damn it! Who was Sora to me and why did it make me happy she would be proud of me?!
Then Preston said more in the language that was apparently Latin. f**k whoever decided to let that language die because it spoke directly to my ovaries. Maybe that’s why someone let it die out because the world would be over populated if men could just break out Latin at any given time.
Because I had no clue what this man said and if he asked for a baby right now I’m pretty sure my ovaries would give one to him. Forget that I’m not ready, in college, and have a million things to do. That language is guaranteed a baby if asked. No one would convince me otherwise.
My boyfriend might be a bit of a thrill seeker because he was ready to go down on me even though I warned him, he might drown. Clearly he wasn’t thinking about how awkward that would be for me with the police. That’s obviously what he wasn’t thinking.
I actually saw stars when I came and the face of that animal in the forest. Now, I was seeing her post orgasm? How did I know it was a her? I just did, but her eyes weren’t open. Ugh! Stop sleeping and explain yourself to the dang animal.
Lord, Preston’s orgasm ruined my brain. Now I was upset that an animal that can’t talk was sleeping and not talking to me. Yup. All normal things. Wait! This is totally my TBI’s fault. Yes! That’s what I was going to blame and not focus on the fact that the animal not being awake made me want to cry.
I got us to the shower because the thought of these sheets being ruined with blood made me want to cry. Like full on sobbing. Which I was giving myself a pass on because clearly I was a person of comfort. I like soft things, sue me.
The shower was easily the hottest thing of my life even though it started out cold. Why was it turning me on being with this man covered in blood? That should concern me. We should talk about whose blood this is.
I should make sure Preston was fine. Ok, I knew he was. I’d have noticed after washing him if he was injured. Yet none of these things made it out of my mouth because I knew whatever happened the person whose blood was on my man got what they deserved.
We made it back to my super soft sheets that needed to go back to that porch nook nest area. That’s what needed to happen. Yup. No, Piper be an ounce less crazy. Except it needed to happen at some point. Great. Perfect. My psyche was just a whole place right now.
I opened my eyes in my forest. I groaned, “Ugh! Hey, sleeping fox thing that is the wrong but right color talk to me. Ok you are multiple colors but foxes aren’t black, white, and blue. They should be you’re very pretty, but it’s irking me you’re not awake. So, up and at 'em.” Nothing happened.
I shouted, “WHY AM I HERE?” I heard a legit evil cackle and whirled around but no one was there. Suddenly, I was in a different place. A man said, “I will have the power of this realm. The Rhoades must go for that to happen?”
Wait, Rhoades? Like my dad? The man threw things into an honest to god cauldron over a fire and I couldn't contain my eye roll. I asked, “Did I get taken back to the medieval times? What are you all wearing?” They were in some sort of monk attire around a fire. Did some of my ancestors get burned in the Salem Witch trials?
I groaned, “STOP IT RIGHT NOW! I know what the Salem Witch Trials are but I had to be told my own name?! This is just so many levels of insulting right now. Two creepy women emerged from the shadows. One laughed, “That’s not going to work.”
I asked, “Are you really helping them right now? Evil people should be independent and have to figure things out on their own. That’s what they should do. Another said, “In order to rule this realm you need…” Her voice faded as I was thrown into a different century.
I gasped, “Kenko!” Kenko was playing with a bunch of kids. My eyes widened when a man came and laid a hell of a kiss on her. Holy crap! Did my dad steal Kenko from this guy? They were playing with the kids when his head whipped in a different direction and he took off.
My jaw dropped when he started making out with another woman. I looked back and Kenko looked visibly hurt, because of course she did. The kids were all comforting her, but she convinced them she was ok .
I said, “Hey, Kenko. It’s ok. You meet my dad and have beautiful children. He’s kind of ass in my opinion but you don’t hold the same view. Plus, he does treat you like the world shines out of your butt from what I’ve seen. Don’t worry about that cheating douche.”
Kenko left and once she was out of sight of the kids started to run. I lost her for a bit. Man, she hit that tree line and was GONE. How did she do that? I finally found her, stripped down to her underwear crying at a tree.
I sighed, “Ok, I’ll stop being rude to you. Don’t cry! That guy was a jerk!” I heard a twig snap and whirled. I shouted, “KENKO, RUN!” I tried to stop the guy that hit her, knocking her unconscious but I wasn’t here apparently.
I chased them, “Let her go!” I heard that evil chuckle again then I was thrown to a cell. I shouted, “What the hell?! I banged on the door screaming until it felt like my voice was raw. I looked around me, there was nothing.
A slab that might be a bed. What is that stench? I nearly threw up realizing they had a bucket for pee and poop. I cried, “Preston!” Then the door slammed open and I tried to run out but stopped short when my dad was thrown in.
I gasped, “DAD!” He was beaten to a pulp and his stomach had stitches up and down it. The guard said, “Tell us what you are and this stops.” Dad replied, “Nothing will stop you.” I shouted, “Leave him alone!” The guy kicked my dad in the head as I screamed then slammed the door.
I cried, “Dad, you’re ok. Come on, you’re ok.” Dad whispered, “Hazel, I’ll see you again.” Then he reached towards the wall. He was hallucinating mom? Then dad let a whimper go. Someone called, “Pernell, are you ok?” I watched as my dad put aside his pain, made himself crawl to the bed.
Dad called in an insanely even voice, “Don’t you girls worry about me, I’ll be fine. Alpine will help me as much as he can.” Was Alpine a guard? No, that was wrong. Those other voices were girls. I whispered, "Where are you right now, dad?”
Then I was thrown away from him. I screamed when I saw a massive snake shed skin. Nope! I will NOPE myself out of this dream. What the f**k! That’s taller than me! Nope. This realm can live in the dark ages. Piper is out!
Then I was surrounded by light on a cloud. I asked, “What the actual…?” A man chuckled and I whirled. I asked, “Who are you?” A man answered, “I’m tampering.” I said, “Ok, that didn’t answer my question.”
The man smiled, “I gave my child the ability to see the past. I let you see some of the things you would need to using her ability.” I asked, “What the actual f**k are you talking about?” He said, “You didn’t stay as long as she would’ve, but you are not my child.”
I agreed, “I am aware. My dad’s name is Pernell.” He hummed, “A man who has suffered greatly.” Yeah, I’d seen that. I asked, “Why would you show me that?” The man answered, “I am a father who has made mistakes. Your path will cross with my child, and she has suffered enough. I didn’t interfere enough. Your god can make his mistakes, but I’ve seen that you all should not suffer for ours.”
I asked, “What?” The man sighed, “I can’t help with your memories or I would.” I asked, “Can you not show me my own past?” The man replied, “You are not my child, so I am limited in what I can do. Your people have a different version of seeing the past. I think one of your children will have it.”
Now, I was having kids? I gasped, “Oh god. Did my ovaries actually override my birth control and conceive because Preston spoke Latin?!” The man laughed, “No, I meant in the future.” I sighed, “Score for birth control.”
The man asked, “Why would you be on birth control?” I answered, “I’m sexually active and the brochure in the hospital said I should be on birth control. My best friend told me I got the implant thing in my arm.”
The man stared at me then laughed. I asked, “What?” The man said, “That is a good friend to lie to you instead of explaining when the doctors say you need to remember on your own.” I said, “Hey, Remi is a great friend!”
He said, “I agree.” I frowned. "You said she lied to me.” The man shrugged, “Sometimes it’s necessary to lie.” I asked, “Who are you?” The man answered, “Achelous.” I replied, “That’s a name.” Achelous laughed, “It is and it’s mine.” Well, since he was giving answers, I had more questions.
I asked, “Do you know who Sora is?” The man answered, “Yes.” I sighed, “Great. Who is she and where can I find her?” The man asked, “Haven’t you already found her?” Then he flicked his hands out in a wave gesture and I flew back to my forest.
I spotted the fox type animal and ran towards her again, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t reach her. The forest tried to get dark but I shouted, “STOP IT!” which made it stop. I woke up panting. I reasoned, “You were running.” I reached for my boyfriend but he wasn’t there. I needed him and the bed was cold.
I opened the door and called for him. Preston ran towards me and everything settled because he was still here. I wasn’t sure why my boyfriend thought someone was trying to take me from him. My stalker hadn’t made his appearance in this town.
The word stalker set my man off and I was backed into my room. The positions my man took me in could not be overstated. I would have to ask Remi what I did to be so flexible but I was certain some positions we did defied both gravity and physics.
Eventually his brother knocked, “P, we have a family meeting.” My boyfriend grumbled, “Fine!” I laughed, “Shower first, jeez.” I grabbed him and made him shower then sent him on his way. When the door closed Remi asked, “What’s with the ‘I have things to do’ face?”
I said, “I have questions for my dad.” Remi snorted, “Be sure to keep it to your dad. I don’t think Preston has it in him to have Paulson f**k up more.” I waved, “Who cares about him?” Remi shouted, “I KNOW THAT’S RIGHT GIRL! We say f**k him. Personally, I say f**k all but your siblings but that’s me and I’m very petty.”
Karl laughed, “That you are and all mine.” They kissed and I couldn’t help but smile at them. I said, “We need to double date.” Remi shouted, “YES!” I laughed, “We will just have to tell Preston about it.” Remi said, “Exactly. I’ll plan the date. What are you going to do?”
I answered, “Talk to my dad. Do you know where he’s staying around here?” Remi replied, “I could not be bothered to learn a single thing about that man let alone his whereabouts which have always been in question.”
Karl snorted, “Remi.” Remi asked, “What? That’s always been the question.” Maybe the reason that was a question is because he was held prisoner. I said, “I’ll just call him then.” Remi said, “Yes, and tell him to SUCK A d**k!” I snorted, “Remi.” Remi replied, “It’s just a simple suggestion.” Karl laughed and tickled her.
I called my dad. He answered, “Piper, are you ok?” I answered, “Yeah, I was hoping we could meet up and talk.” Pernell said, “Of course. Where?” I said, “Well, I thought I could come see where you're staying.”
Remi snorted, “Yeah, where are you staying?” I raised an eyebrow at her. Remi asked, “What? You want to know, not me. Me doesn’t care if he lives under the bridge in a cardboard box, which is better than he deserves.” I smacked my own head.
Pernell said, “I’ll come to your place in a half hour.” I said, “Oh, umm ok.” Then hung up. I sighed, “So, he doesn't want me to see where he lives.” Remi sighed, “What a dick.” Karl laughed, “Remi.” Remi asked, “What?”
I went back up to my room and called my mom. Mom answered, “Piper, honey? How are you?” I said, “Weird. My dreams are weird, I’m missing someone named Sora. My boyfriend came home covered in blood and I’m not even worried about whose it was. I’m positive they deserved it. I keep seeing a white, black, and blue animal that’s asleep and it’s upsetting me.”
I scoffed, “Oh, and I dreamt some guy let me see the past and now I’m worried dad is a closed off dickhead because he was imprisoned, beaten, and cut open. Then I’m jealous because he was there for that little girl that asked if he was ok but he didn’t bother to be there for me.”
“I’m a mess of emotions and I feel like my bedsheets need to go back to the place Preston took me on our first date. My teammates are turning into massive bitches that just give Remi and I s**t for our life choices.”
“Dad won’t answer where he is staying. Paulson is a d**k and a half. Pen is living some life he doesn’t want to and nothing makes sense! I think Kenko had an ex that openly cheated on her then she got kidnapped. I’m beginning to think our family has trauma coming out of their ass.”
Mom sighed, “Oh, honey.” I said, “I hate all the things that are going on and I can’t help but think it’s all my fault.” Mom argued, “It’s not your fault.” I asked, “What did I do that this stalker is obsessed with me? I know he’s killed. Why is he doing this to me?” The tears came unbidden and unwelcomed. Mom said, “You listen to me, what that man has done is not on you. He’s a sick and disgusting individual. That’s all there is to it. You have NOTHING to do with that. You did nothing wrong, Piper.”
I whispered, “It feels like I did. I feel this big missing piece of me that aches when Preston’s not around and nothing makes sense. I just want to remember everything. I’m so tired of feeling like I have these pieces to a puzzle but I’m missing some.”
Mom said, “You’re going to figure it out because you’ve always been such a strong, independent, little girl who has grown into an amazing woman. I know this all has to be disconcerting.”
I asked, “Was my dad some type of prisoner somewhere?” Mom didn’t answer. I pushed, “You said we never lie to each other.” Mom agreed, “We don’t. I think you should talk to your dad about that.”
I whispered, “He said your name.” Mom sniffled, “I was there for him when he came out. Paulson came and ferreted your dad away.” I asked, “Did he not know about me? Is that why he jumped from you to Kenko so soon?”
Mom told me, “Honey, I was never your dad’s forever and he was never mine.” I sighed, “I’m not saying you were. This isn’t some kid who wants her parents together. I like you with Nathan McD. I don’t even know Pernell. He’s not been around. Nathan McD has. I just judged him for having me and Pen with different women so close together.”
I rubbed my face, “I feel bad for him and I’m mad. Like maybe my mind is making stuff up, but you basically confirmed he was hurt and held captive. I just know there’s more for me to grasp and everyone else has the key and I’m sitting here knowing nothing.”
“I’m angry my subconscious won’t talk back to me, which I understand makes no sense. I feel like I’m spiraling and ready to lash out. I asked Valentina and Anastasia to help me get my teammates and I’m not entirely convinced they aren’t going to kill some of them. I also don’t care. What is wrong with me?”
Mom snorted, “What?” I groaned, “Right? God, I’m going to jail for this, aren’t I?” Mom replied, “No, you’re not.” I asked, “Why don’t I care that I probably got some people killed. Anastasia totally wants to and Valentina is like smoother but she agreed. They were just being bitches about Karl and part of me thinks they deserve it.”
Mom asked, “What did they say about that sweet, precious young man.” I heard Nathan growl. I laughed, “Thank you for growling Nathan McD. I needed that. They said that he’d cheat so Remi should open up their marriage because they are too young.”
Mom gasped, “THEY SAID THAT TO REMI?! Are they…?” She trailed off. I asked, “Are they what?” Mom asked, “Alive? If yes, Remi might have body snatched and we have to do something about that.”
I snorted, “What was she going to do? Beat them to death in the locker room?” Nathan said, “They are lucky she’s not an Alpha type person. Or yes, that would’ve happened. It’s not probably actually, it should absolutely be concerning to them the blood that runs through their veins.”
Mom gasped, “They didn’t say that about you and Preston, right?” I replied, “We aren’t married, so no.” Nathan McD muttered, “It’s best for their health they don’t do that.” I asked, “Why?” Nathan McD urged, “Think really hard about your reaction if you were married to Preston and someone said he’d cheat on you.” I made a noise of anger.
Mom gasped, “Don’t think too hard about that!” I could kill them easily. I gasped, “Oh my god! Do I know how to kill people? Because this overwhelming confidence that I could kill them has hit me.” Mom laughed. I groaned, ‘Mom, you shouldn’t be laughing.” Nathan said, “All humans can kill another, Piper.”
I replied, “I don’t think they're trained, but I’m positive I am. Grandpa Ralph taught me. OH MY GOD! I know that, with like complete and utter confidence. UGH! Not having memories but having them is so STUPID!”
Mom agreed, “It is. Brain injuries are the pits.” I agreed, “They are.” The knock came on the door. I sighed, “Pernell, dad whatever I call him is here and I’m not less annoyed than I was before. Great. This is going to go horribly.”
Nathan McD said, “If it does, life will continue on. You called him for a reason. Hear him out but you can’t control how you feel about things. People like us like control, Piper. There’s nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with fraying at the edges because everything feels out of control. Your dad will understand that.”
I whispered, “Why aren’t you my dad.” Mom sniffled. Nathan replied, “Because I’m your stepdad. You wouldn’t be who you are if I was your father and that would be a tragedy because you are someone the world needs to know.”
Tears fell from my eyes. I cried, “You’ve been there. You came for me in the ocean, but he’s been nowhere. He was there for some little girl in a prison but not me. Why wasn’t it me?” Mom was now full on sobbing.
Nathan McD said, “There are reasons, but a part of you knows that. Another needs to ask your dad those questions. It’s ok to do so. Sometimes, you gotta get mad, Piper. You do that with me, your dad, Preston, or his dad. We understand. So does my grandpa.” Right. Grandpa Ralph was his grandpa too.
I sighed, “That makes no sense but thank you.” Nathan McD said, “It makes more sense than you know.” I snorted, “What’s new?” Nathan McD replied, “A lot of things are new, there are always new things to learn or know.” I replied, “Well, I better get the door before Remi sets my dad on fire or something.” They both laughed but I was kind of serious. I hung up the phone and went downstairs.
Remi had her arms crossed in front of her. My friend announced, “Pernell is here.” I replied, “I know.” Remi gasped, “You’re crying? What’s wrong? Who do I need to kill? I will cut those bitches if they called you and talked trash about Preston! They don’t know s**t, Piper! They are playing by rules that don’t apply to us.”
I assured her, “It wasn’t them. I’m just tired of not knowing anything.” Remi came over and hugged me saying, “It’s ok, girl.” I cried while she held me for several minutes. Remi said, “You leave and come back later.”
