Dark Side Pt.2

Pernell said, “You may hate me, but I can help.” Remi scoffed, “When have you ever helped?” I pulled back, “I do want to talk to him.” Remi wiped my tears saying, “Fine. Karl and I are going to eat, but she better not be crying when I get back.” She pointed at Pernell and made the I’m watching you sign before Karl took her out of the room. I said, “I guess we should sit down.” Pernell crossed the room and held me. Dad said, "Sometimes you just need to cry it out.” I sniffled, “I just did that.” Dad agreed, “You did but you're not done and we both know it. There’s a part of you that you’re not crying for right now that you need to.” I cried, “How can you know that?” Pernell answered, “Because I’m your father.” This man I had just wished not to be father understood and that made me feel worse. The ache in me swelled and I sobbed. I cried, “I don’t know who Sora is but I miss her, dad. I do.” Pernell said, “My sweet little girl, I know you do.” I beat my hands on his chest, “I need her back! I NEED HER!” Dad said, “She will come back to you, Piper. She’s not really left, and part of you knows that.” I stilled, “I don’t know who she is.” Pernell pulled me back so I could look into his eyes, “You do know who she is, you’ve just forgotten. Sora is a part of your very soul. You do remember her because you know her name and you know you need her.” I cried, “Where is she?” Pernell answered, “Where she always was, with you.” That didn’t make sense but it made the ache settle. I wiped my tears and forced myself to step back. I told him, “That’s not why I called you here.” Pernell asked, “What do you need, Piper?” I asked, “Were you a prisoner somewhere?” Pernell looked taken aback then closed his eyes. I hummed, “So, you were.” Pernell asked, “Did Preston tell you that?” I asked, “Preston know?” Pernell frowned, “Who told you?” I laughed, “Trust me when I say, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Pernell shrugged, “Try me.” I snarked, “Ok, a guy named Asmodeus let me see some things in the past because I’m going to cross paths with one of his children and I got the impression he was trying to make up for something that happened with her.” Pernell asked, “Asmodeus?” I snorted, “Right? It’s a name and half. I some evil dude in the dark ages talk about running the Rhoades out of somewhere and these two straight up evil bitches mocked him saying he was doing it wrong. Then I was gone.” I added, “I saw Kenko. Her ex is a dick.” Pernell made a noise of anger. I nodded, “Yeah, I feel that way. He was kissing her one second then just took off running for this chick and started making out with her. Kenko let everyone think she was ok then she ran through the woods. Ok, I lost her for a bit. Your wife might be a track star. Look into that. Or you probably know. Then this other guy knocked her out while she cried.” Pernell looked murderously angry. I said, “I also saw you in a cell. Well, I was in it first. It was small, damp, and smelly. I hit that door but nothing budged. You were beaten and cut open.” Pernell clenched his jaw. I asked, “Was that real? Is that why you’re closed off with me? You called out for my mom.” Pernell flinched, “Your mom and the memory of her kept me alive in that place.” I knew it came out jealous when I said, “I think it was the other girls down there.” I groaned, “God, I just sounded jealous of a girl who was a prisoner.” Pernell said, “You think I was there for those girls when I wasn’t there for you.” I shouted, “YOU WERE! I came to in that hospital not remembering anything, a piece of me was missing and still is! You weren’t there but you picked yourself up off that floor to comfort those girls when you were cut open! They hurt you but you forced your pain down. Why weren’t you there for me?! Where have you been?!” I admitted, “I realize I’m grown, but why didn’t mom have a way to contact you about me? Why didn’t you want to know if something happened to me? Pen’s grown too and he was with you. So, why weren’t you there? AND WHY DO I CARE?!” Pernell hugged me again, “You care because I’m your father. I should’ve been there, Piper. I’m so damn sorry that I wasn’t. There really isn’t an excuse. I mean sure, I have plenty but they don’t matter. You’re my daughter and I should’ve been there.” I asked, “Why weren’t you? Why can’t I know anything about my life? It’s not fair, it's my life!” Pernell said, “I agree. I think it’s utterly ridiculous not to tell you things, but I can say that the doctor scared your mom. I heard the speech given and as a parent it’s terrifying. Your mom is going with the man who went to school to be a doctor who is a specialist.” I groaned, “He’s crazy.” Pernell replied, “I don’t think he’s crazy but I think he’s wrong in this instance. I just don’t get to say that.” I questioned, “Why?” Pernell winced, “I wasn’t there and I am so sorry that I wasn’t. I wish I had been there for you.” I rubbed my head, “This is so messed up. I can’t be jealous of a girl in captivity.” Pernell said, “I wish I had been there for you every single day.” I sighed, “So, you lived in that place when you knew my mom but not Kenko.” Pernell said, “I didn’t meet Kenko until I had left your mom behind to take my place that had been mine to take since I was born” I snorted, “I knew Paulson was a dick.” Pernell replied, “He is many things. I can’t say I understand him or ever did really, but he’s my father.” I asked, “Was he there for you when it counted?” Pernell replied “I think it depends on when you mean. He was there when my children and Kenko’s were born. He was beside me as I grew. I left to find myself and he was there at your mom’s house when I came home.” Pernell rubbed his neck, “I won’t lie and say I don’t resent him for that, I do. The moment I asked him to check on your mom and he did a piss poor job sticks out more. I don’t regret you or Pen though. I love all of my kids.” I reasoned, “Of course you do.” Pernell said, “I was kidnapped off the street. I was on my way to meet your mom. Days ceased meaning things to me, but there were other prisoners. Little girls who had nothing and no one. They didn’t know anything and I taught them.” He continued, “I still talk to those girls who have grown up and have their own families because they are how I knew I wanted to be a father. Something I sincerely doubted. Your mother couldn't have kids. That is what the both of us knew. It’s complicated for me to have children with anyone other than Kenko.” I pointed out, “That doesn’t make any sense. Once, people have children all the time. Two, I’m sitting right here.” Tears fell from his eyes, “Yes, you are and you’re so beautiful. I was captured in that place devoid of all the things I knew. Feeling that ache I know you do inside.” I shook my head, “You can’t understand…” Pernell cut me off, “I understand more than you could ever know. More than I will ever allow you to because I will never let you be in that kind of room.” I asked, “Did my stalker do it?” Pernell said, “He might have played a hand in it, from what I’m learning. Did he capture me? No, I am more than he could ever dream to be.” I questioned, “Is he after me because I’m your daughter?” Pernell admitted, “Yes, he is. He wanted Kenko because she’s mine.” Like Preston called me his. I nodded, “Ok, so what do we do?” Pernell asked, “What?” I said, “There has to be something we can do. This fight has been played on defense long enough. They got you, they went for Kenko, they are after me and Miska. I don’t know why but I think you and I together could do something about that.” Pernell sighed, “Not right now we can’t.” I groaned, “Come on.” Pernell grabbed my hands saying, “We will win this time. You will not be locked in a cell and taken away. Because I’m not my dad. I would never let any of my kids live like that. He doesn't know how that feels. It wasn’t my path that needed to happen and it sure as hell will not be yours. Ok?” I asked, “Paulson knew where you were?” Pernell’s jaw ticked, “It turns out that he did, yes.” I blew out a breath, “I don’t want him near my siblings then and I expect you to tell me if that rat bastard gets them. I may not remember how I know, but I can kill.” Pernell laughed, “I’m sure you do. I looked forward to seeing those skills. What if we worked together? When your schedule allows.” I asked, “How? I don’t remember where you live.” Pernell said, “I’ll be around. Ok?” I nodded, “I think I’m mad at you.” Pernell shrugged, “I’m mad at me too. I know you’ll remember one day but you have every right to be upset. Kenko and your siblings don’t deserve that though. Pen is quite put out with me.” I asked, “Just him?” Pernell said, “Him most of all.” I asked, “Why?” Pernell said, “One day we will be able to have the conversation that’s needed. Right now we are doing a dance that I don’t particularly like if I’m being honest.” I sighed, “I don’t like this either really. I feel all these emotions and they get overwhelming all the time.” Pernell offered, “You can always call me when that happens. I can talk, get us in the gym, or let you hit me.” I groaned, “Why does that make sense? Hitting you is totally not an acceptable reaction, but it feels like it is.” Pernell laughed, “Because it is.” Remi came back in, “Ok, laughter. I suppose I won’t stab you in your sleep.” I asked, “What’s wrong?” Remi replied, “I was worried about you.” Pernell left and I fell asleep in my room for a bit. Remi squealed with delight and I ran downstairs. I asked, “What’s going on?” Remi said, “So, people suck.” I asked, “So, you squealed?” Remi sighed, “Haley Conners sent me a note.” I asked, “Why?” Remi huffed, “We would’ve been invited to this thing going on. We totally want to go, but we can’t yet. We will though.” I laughed, “Ok.” Remi demanded, “We are going to get drinks since I’m not allowed at the thing I want to be at yet.” I laughed and we went to the bar. It was pretty relaxed. Preston called and I answered, “Hey, Preston.” Preston chuckled, “Hello, I’ll leave here in a bit and I want to come see you.” I teased, “You sound keyed up.” Remi grumbled, “He could be more keyed up.” I laughed at her. Preston growled, “I’m very keyed up.” I asked, “Why is that?” Preston admitted, “It’s hard to understand. I’ll see you soon.” Remi waved, “Two more drinks.” Then put them down and we clinked glasses and downed them. I called, “We need the check.” The bartender replied, “It’s covered, Luna.” Remi waved, “Thanks.” I whispered, “He thinks I’m someone named Luna! He could get fired.” Remi waved, “He won’t get fired.” She must have left cash on the bar. Remi giggled, “You’re going to get some giggity goo time.” I laughed, “I do that a lot now.” Remi cheered, “Yeah, you do!” We walked into our building through security. We got on the elevator when the alarms sounded because someone tried to get in without access. I laughed, “Wow, this security is crazy.” Remi agreed, “It is.” We got to the apartment and there were massive gift bags, drinks on the counter, and two costumes. Remi screamed “OH MY f*****g GOD! YES! This makes it a little bit better.” I asked, “Makes what better?” Remi screamed, “Haley Conners sent us outfits!” I said, “I think we are villains.” I picked up my card. Piper, I hope this letter finds you well. These costumes and goodies are all for you. If you feel so led to play the bad girl the outfit is yours. I hear you enjoy the franchise the costume is from. My son does as well. Your lightsaber is red and Preston’s will be blue. Should you choose to play that is. Have so much f*****g fun! Sincerely, Haley & the Bad Ass Girl Gang I laughed, “Who is the bad ass girl gang?” Remi screamed, “PUT IT ON ME! PUT IT ON ME! PUT IT ON ME!” I snorted, “You can put it on yourself. Are you a sexy villain pirate?” Remi shouted, “I AM! It’s from a game Karl and I played.” I shrugged, “I think my mom told my therapist all our secrets.” Remi said, “Bless Hazel if that’s true. Come on! We have the makeup and hair accessories here. Let’s go!” I grabbed my outfit and we went into her bathroom. I put my outfit on. It was multiple pieces. I had a hood and armor on my shoulder but the bra was black and the skirt was black with cuts so you could see my whole leg. I put the shoes on and clicked the button to turn on the light saber. I gasped, “Wow. This is amazing.” Remi screamed, “OH MY GOD! GIRL! Bad looks GOOOODDDD on you.” I laughed, “Your turn.” Remi’s was far more complicated. They were high waisted leather pants that went up to her boobs because the corset was on the waist. The white body suit she had was adorable. The sleeves were off the shoulder and puffy and joined with her matching type gloves. Her boots looked exactly like I’d imagine a female pirate. Remi curled my hair and did my make up like the instructions left. Remi laughed, “You know I never would’ve done a black lip and heavy eyeliner BUT GIIRRRLLLL! HAWWWTTT! You are so hot!” I laughed, “Your turn. I was putting extensions in Remi’s hair and we used the temporary die kit to put lights highlights in her hair. I put the choker on and finished her light make up. Remi twirled around, “God damn. Our men are so lucky. I hope our teammates see us having SO MUCH fun with our men tonight.” I laughed, “I doubt they are coming here.” Remi held up cards, “We have instructions. First, we drink.” I laughed, “We did that.” Remi waved, “The drinks out there for us.” I asked, “How on earth did she do all this?” Remi said, “She’s Haley Holloran Cambridge Conners, that’s how.” I agreed, “Someone with that many names definitely has super powers.” Remi threw her head back and laughed. I was serious though. The drinks were obviously geared towards our outfits. I laughed, “Oh my god, that’s a Yoda cocktail.” Remi’s eyes jerked to mine. I groaned, “Sure, I know Yoda but not my own middle name. Come the hell on!” I downed the Yoda drink. I admitted, “Damn, that was good.” There were blue and red themed drinks that I quickly downed. I asked, “What are we doing?” Remi laughed, “We start together and they have to find us on the quad.” I gasped, “The place where everyone that’s already on campus always is?!” Remi grinned, “Damn straight. We are about to go viral. Put your hood up girl.” She handed me Preston’s light saber. Remi winked, “You have to entice your man into a duel.” I groaned, “Oh god, we are going to have everyone out there. What are you doing?” Remi grinned, “While you distract the crowd, I steal my man’s things of course. I’m a Pirate.” I laughed, “That’s hilarious. I hope you get a ship.” Remi winked, “I bet I take him there to look at my booty.” I threw my head back laughing at her joke. I admitted, “This is kind of fun, but we will one hundred percent look insane until the guys show up.” Remi shrugged, “Who cares? Other people’s opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got ‘em and none are pretty.” I spit out my drink, I laughed so hard. I waved, “I love you so much. Let’s go be bad.” Remi squealed, “I know that’s right! Let’s go be bad girls. The baddest of the bad. It’s you and babe.” I laughed and we walked downstairs. Finnick smirked when saw us, “I have my part to do for you ladies." I asked, “You’re in on this?” Finnick nodded, “Yes, and I’m probably getting punched in the face.” Remi cackled, “Do you keep them down here?” Finnick bowed, “I will be holding them up so you two get your bad selves upstairs.” We both gave him high fives and made our way to campus. People were looking and I nearly got self-conscious but one look at Remi had me standing taller. We were hot and owning it. One girl asked, “Uhh did I miss the memo on a frat party? Because I so want in on whatever party you guys are going to.” I asked, “Are the frats even having parties right now?” The girl answered, “Oh yeah, some of them stay here all summer and party.” I said, “Well, we aren’t going to a party.” One girl asked, “You’re just walking around campus dressed like this?” Remi said, “You gotta keep the spark alive in your relationship ladies.” Several laughed and nudged each other. One said, “Cassidy, come on! There’s a s*x shop near here we are hitting up.” To us she said, “You guys are my heroes. Our men are coming to visit before the semester starts and this is totally the way to start out. We’ve got two hours, let’s go!” They took off. I saw a few of our teammates, they dropped their drinks. I laughed, “Well, we are certainly making a splash.” Remi said, “We’ll have to do this again when the whole student body is here. They need to know that my man only wants me.” I agreed, “Damn straight.” Remi nudged me, “Go over there by the clock tower.” I snorted, “You’re coming with me. When Preston and Karl get here you can separate into the crowd.” Remi laughed, “Preston will get here first. I’ll just drive Karl a little crazy.” I winked, “He does have a pillow mistress.” Remi grinned, “I know!” We both laughed. The clock struck the hour and I heard a growl I knew all too well. The whole place froze. I whispered, “Remi, what do I do?” Remi squeezed my hand, “You know what to do. Entice him into a fight and use your sabers. Then later use his in bed.” My best friend winked at me. I snorted, “I call it a monster.” Remi urged, “Today it’s saber. Go on.” Then she dropped back into the crowd. Preston growled, “Piper.” I cooed, “Jedi.” Several people gasped. I kicked his light saber over to him and clicked the button so mine came on. Preston picked his up and clicked it. Someone gasped, “Holy s**t! The s****l tension is so thick, I can feel it. This is legit crazy!” One guy said, “What? AWESOME! It’s a Light saber fight!” Preston waved his saber around and started doing tricks. My boyfriend winked, “I’m one with the force, Piper.” I tossed the saber between my hands then just started to throw it like it was a baton. What the hell? I was talented! Go me. I warned, “I’m one with the dark side.” Preston smirked and our swords collided. We began to trade jabs. People were clapping. Preston did a flip over my head, but I went to a knee and blocked the sword. I heard Karl growl, “Remi!” I winked, “I gotta help my girl get away.” Preston asked, “Was this a distraction, love?” I grinned and ran towards Remi and took off. I asked, “What now?” Preston laughed, “You can’t hide from us, ladies.” Karl was next to Preston. Remi opened a card and read, “Ok, left up here.” We were winding through places and ended up at some lake. I gasped, “There’s a pirate boat! WHAT?” Remi chuckled, “Imagine that. Come on.” We made it on. Remi shouted, “ANCHORS AWAY!” I asked, “What?” Remi urged untie the ropes. I asked, “Can you steer this ship?” Remi replied, "Literally don’t count on me to do this on any other ship. I’ve got this one though.” Karl and Preston showed up when we were decently far away. Remi cackled, “You won’t be seeing this booty, Karl!” Karl growled, “REMI!” I laughed and turned my light saber back on and pointed to Preston who smirked then deliberately ran his tongue across his upper lip. Remi shouted, “Bring me that horizon!” I laughed, “There’s only so many places we can go.” Remi said, “I’m just getting you to your place. Karl has to board my ship.” I bumped her, “Well, we showed those other girls.” Remi agreed, “Damn straight."
