Chapter Two: A night of passion

1583 Words
Lexis's POV I stumbled out of the house, my heart heavy with the height of Ethan's betrayal. I can't believe that he would do such a thing to me. Moving on so fast and worst of all, with my step sister. I swear, if it were someone else, I wouldn't have been so angry like I am now. I have long expected a lot of things from my family. Even though I was still shocked that my step mother would pay the wardens to kill me, I'm not surprised. She is a cruel woman and she would do anything to get whatever she wants. If she could kill my mother, who was once her best friend, just because she wanted the company, she would do anything. If she could seduce my father and get pregnant for him when my mother was still barren, she would do anything. So I'm not even surprised that she wanted me dead. She wants to wipe me off the face of the earth so that she would keep the company to herself, I guess. But never for once did it cross my mind that Ethan would betray me too. The pain and anger threatened to overcome me, threatened to consume me, making my vision blur. The cool evening air does little to calm the storm brewing inside me. I needed a distraction, something to numb the pain and anything at all would be appreciated. I would have considered suicide, but that would make me a coward. I still have to avenge my mother's death. I still have to clear her name. I still have to get her company back. I have no idea where I was going, but I just wanted to be away from them. I just wanted to do something that would take my mind off my pain. And that's when I spotted the bar. The neon lights called out to me like a siren's call and of course, I answered. After all, I wanted something to make me forget my pain before planning my next move on everyone. I barged into the club and walked straight to the bar lounge. I slid onto a stool. “Hi, could you uhm…pour me a drink?” I asked, trying to sound casual. “What's your poison?” He asked, his tone light. “Whatever's strongest,’’ He raised an eyebrow but poured me a shot without hesitation. I downed it in one gulp, ignoring the burning sensation as the liquor coursed through my veins. I coughed, my eyes watering. That was more than enough sign for me to change my mind about my decision and go home, but I didn't. Instead, I ordered another and another, determined to drown my sorrows. Just as I was about to take the final shot, a stranger appeared out of nowhere, his hand closing around my wrist like a vice. “I think you've had enough,” he said, his voice low and smooth. I turned to face him, my eyes locking onto his chiseled features. He was attractive with piercing sapphire eyes and a strong jawline. For a moment, I forgot about Ethan, forgot about the pain and betrayal. I forgot about my family, forgot about my mother too. All I could think about was this beautiful stranger in front of me and the way he made me feel. I stretched out my hands to his face, my fingers tracing the outlines of his cheekbones. He didn't push me away. Instead, he leaned into my touch, his eyes never leaving mine. Before I knew it, I was kissing him, my lips moving in sync with his. The room around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, lost in the moment. I didn't care about anything else. I just wanted to forget. I just wanted to be wrapped in this stranger's arms and I was glad he wanted the same thing too. He paid the bartender as he took my hand, leading me out of the bar and into the cool night air. We walked in silence, the only sound, being the clicking of our heels on the pavement. He guided me to his car and made me sit in the back seat. He entered the back too and immediately, the driver, whom I hadn't realized was in the front seat, drove away. 'Come on, Lexi, what do you think you are doing? This man could be a killer. He could be an assassin and you are following him to his house?’ A thought whispered at the back of my head, but I pushed it down. I'm here to have ‘fun’ and I'm not backing down. The car pulled up right outside a large building and the man on the driver's seat switched off the car's engine. “We are here, sir,” he announced as he got down from his seat to help the stranger out of his seat. “Is this your house?” I asked, but he shook his head. “This is a hotel. You will crash here with me tonight! I already booked a room there,” He explained and I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation. I didn't know what the night held, but I was ready to let go of my pain and lose myself in this stranger's arms. We walked to the elevator, our hands clasped together. The stranger pushed the button on the top floor and we rode in silence, our eyes locked onto each other. As soon as I entered the hotel room , the man turned to me, his eyes burning with desire. I knew what I was getting myself into, but I didn't care. I just wanted to forget, to escape the pain and the heartache. And so, I let him take me, let him make love to me. It was my first time, and even though it hurts, I forced my mind off the pain. The man stared at me with a knowing stare and I nodded curtly. “Yes! I'm a virgin! Please don't stop,” He didn't. He just continued pounding into me. For the first time in three years, I felt alive. I lay on the bed watching the man as he slept. I knew that I had made a mistake by having s*x with a stranger and worst of all, without any protection. What if he was infected? Well, it was too late now. I woke up to the sound of my own groggy breathing. My head was pounding and my mouth felt dry. I slowly sat up, looking around the unfamiliar room. That's what I saw him- the stranger I had seduced the night before. I felt a wave of guilt wash over me as I realized that I had taken advantage of him, using him to forget my pain. I quickly got out of bed, trying not to wake him. I rummaged through the counter, pulling out a note and a pen. “I'm sorry about last night. Here is my contact! Call me if you need anything and I'll gladly take responsibility for last night,” I wrote, hoping it would be enough to make up for my actions. I quietly slipped out of the room, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I hailed a taxi and headed back to my family's residence. As I arrived at the mansion, I was greeted with the sight of my stepmother, step sister and father. They were all sitting in the living room, looking like they owned the place. “I want all of my mother's properties,” I demanded, trying to sound confident. My father sneered at me. “You have no right to request anything,” she spat. “You are just a disgraced daughter who's been in prison for three years. You are not even worthy of being called a member of this family.” I felt a surge of anger, but I tried to keep my cool. “I'm my mother's daughter,” I said, my voice firm. “And I deserve to inherit her properties. Including this house,” Margaret rolled her eyes. “You are not even a real daughter,” she said, her voice dripping with malice. “You are just a mistake, a product of my father's infidelity. You don't deserve anything,” My father, Jenkins, looked at me with a mixture of disappointment and disgusting “You fool, you need to understand that you are not in a position to be making demands,” he said. “You've brought shame to this family and you need to be grateful that we're even willing to take you back in,” I felt a wave of anger wash over me. How could they be so cruel? “I don't want your charity.” I spat, my voice venomous. “I want what's rightfully mine and I'll do whatever it takes to get it,” Claudia sneered at me. “You are just a foolish brat,” she said. “You don't know what you are getting yourself into. But go ahead. Try to take what's not yours and face the consequences,” I would show them that I was a force to be reckoned with. “I'll get what's mine and there's nothing you can do to stop me,” “We'll see about that,” Claudia and my father burst into laughter. “Get ready to meet your mother in hell,”
