Chapter 3

"What are these strange birds?" I said while trying to make sure of them "

It's not birds...I think it's a kind of bat, but it looks bigger than usual," he said

We were still staring at her in silence. "Let's go back inside. I think we might need some time to get to know this place," said Jacqueline.

After a short rest, we grabbed some snacks and started getting the little bags ready for the jungle, according to the plan that Nate had drawn up, who was calling about getting a private car to take us to the jungle.

"Wonderful I got a car with the private guide, but it's a pity we won't be leaving for tonight because he's going to be in town by tomorrow," he told us after he hung up while his hair was in a terrible mess.

"Then we should get some sleep, so let"s get ready for tomorrow"s flight," Jacqueline said

Everyone agreed and made a room to sleep in, while Nate sat down to his dinner.

"Nate, I think it"s wrong to go into the woods with guns, I mean wouldn"t that bother the people in the area?" I said

Nate stops eating, wipes his mouth with a tissue, then looks at me, "Melene, you're backing away now, you want to give up on me?" He said.

"No, Nate, I don't mean, but I'm worried," I said

"We will go into the forest, and you will be amazed when I catch the legendary creature," he said

I sighed as I looked down and Nate stood up and walked up to me to stand in front of me and grabbed my shoulder, "Melene..." he said looking me seriously.

Then he said, "I want you to go out tomorrow to buy some fresh meat, it will help us in our hunting mission." He said

"Huh..." Is that what I want to say?! I furrowed my eyebrows in anger and opened my lips to object, for a second I thought he thought of my fear and anxiety, but that was what Nate had always been indifferent and cold.

"Okay, I will." I said

I took his hands away from me and walked over to the big sofa to lie on it while I pulled the cover, and as sleep crept into my eyes, I felt my building lay next to me, and within minutes his annoying snoring started to ring in my head. I put the pillow on my head and I fell asleep too.

the next day ----

I awoke to the sounds of men talking outside with the smell of fresh coffee looking like they were ready to go, I turned around and couldn't find Nate by my side

I removed the cap and prepared myself when I put my hair in a ponytail and brushed my teeth, and chose to wear the hat with shorts and boots a little like soldiers' boots.

"Good morning everyone, can I have some coffee?" I said while standing outside

"Of course," said one of Jacqueline's men as he handed me a small cup of coffee

"Where"s Nate?" I asked as I looked around

"I think he's still bathing inside," said Jacqueline, as he rolled the covers and sheets to put them in the car we were waiting for.

Suddenly I remembered what Nate had asked of me yesterday about getting me some meat not far from here.

I looked across from the house, where there were a group of small shops stacked next to each other, separated from the house by a large area, and decided to go to them

The place was quiet with a few passers-by, I don't know the secret of their strange stare... The strangest thing was that I didn't meet any girls on my way.

I looked up at the large wooden sign that read...Butcher Kolog...

I entered the store and took a quick look at the place, it was cold and clean, while the workers there were busy packing the cuts of meat in cartons and they were wearing white coats with gloves and a hood and seemed to care about their work.

A fleeting moment of silence passed when the workers here stared at me curiously with welcoming smiles, but what really attracted me was someone's looks at me.

I looked away from him when Shroudy interrupted the voice of one of the employees, "Shall we help you, miss?" he said

"Yeah, I want a good amount of raw beef," I said

The man began to prepare my order, and turned again to see that strange worker, but I did not find him, I took the bag of meat and left the place in a hurry towards the rest

I found everyone getting ready to get into the huge SUV, which had arrived to take us into the woods, and I saw Nate climbing into it.

"Miss Millen, we're waiting," Jacqueline said, gesturing for me to take a seat next to Nate

She handed one of Jacqueline's men the order and went up to Nate's side, who was talking to the driver, "Hey Sean...take us first to the north side of the woods," said Nate.

He turned to me and said, "Melene, did you bring what I asked you?" He said

"Yes," I said while holding my hand in front of me, Nate would kill me coldly

"I brought you your bag too, let's leave now," Nate said with a big smile

I was still watching the completely empty road, while the houses seemed to be completely deserted when I saw them locking the windows and the doors of the houses with iron locks.

"Hey Jacqueline, isn"t it better to deal with these creatures at night?" said Nate

"I really don't know what we're going to face, so the day will be a good start to getting to know the place," Jacqueline replied

"As a tour guide here, I advise not to try at night, as it will be safe to start exploring the northern side of the forest during the day," said the guide Sean.

We were now on the outskirts of the woods and a few moments later we were inside we could still use the car because of the wide road, but Sean stopped.

Everyone got out of the car. Nate gave Nate a peek and looked excited as he put his bag on his back while Jacqueline's men pulled out their rifles and here's Sean surprised

"We will continue walking, because the roads are narrow and meander inside," he said

"Mr. Nate, it wasn't our agreement to bring guns on the go. You're a tourist, not a hunter. Shootings are not allowed here, and the consequences will be dire," Sean said angrily.
