Chapter Four
"Linda," Timothy called.
"Well, well, if it isn't you. What are you doing here?" asked Linda, shaking hands with Timothy.
"I came to see that wretch Elizabeth locked up. She destroyed my happiness and even had her grandparents killed. Such an ungrateful soul!"
"But why did you testify against her in court today? Isn't she your best friend? Don't you love her?" Timothy asked, feigning ignorance.
"Friend? Love? Haha! That's just a figment of your imagination, isn't it? You have no idea how much I despised her, do you?"
"Come on, Linda! Admit that you're the one who killed her grandparents. Confess! I know you did it, just admit it," Timothy silently urged.
"I hated her so much that I would do anything, even kill, to get her out of my way," Linda continued. "Her parents and grandparents were so stubborn, always protecting her. So I had no choice but to eliminate them. Haha! Those fools are now resting in peace!"
"Yes, yes. Timothy! At long last, the truth has been revealed. The task is completed. Elizabeth will be liberated. Bravo, Tim, well done!”, “Haha! A fiendish cackle escaped his mouth. “Linda, you will pay dearly," Timothy uttered gleefully.
“She will endure agony," she repeated. “Elizabeth will experience anguish," Linda proclaimed loudly.
“Allow me to unwind and anticipate the day when that gullible girl will be condemned to life behind bars. Haha! I am overjoyed," she bid farewell to Timothy and departed.
"It is you, Linda! You shall soon find yourself confined behind prison walls. It appears you are oblivious to the impending consequences," Timothy declared, preserving the recording.
"Let's see".

"Tim," Elizabeth called out from her confinement, reaching her hand through the door to grasp Timothy's, "thank you for loving and supporting me. But I fear it may be too late," she moaned.
"Please, find someone else to love and marry. There is no evidence to prove my innocence."
"I am a failure, unable to bring my grandparents the justice they deserve. And Linda and..." Her voice broke as she sobbed, "No, they don't deserve to go unpunished."
"Haha," Timothy laughed.
Elizabeth's anger flared at the mocking sound coming from Timothy's lips. "What's so funny? Have you joined my enemies too? Get out!" she ordered, seething with rage.
"Just like that, my love?" Timothy finally spoke up. "Babe, I have good news for you," he said, his voice filled with excitement.
"What could it be?" Elizabeth asked, her disbelief evident.
"You will be free tomorrow. I convinced Linda to confess to her crime by pretending to speak ill of you."
"What do you mean?" Elizabeth questioned in disbelief.
"Wait a minute," said Timothy, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out his phone and played the recording of his conversation with Linda. "Listen to this."
"How? I mean, how were you able to make her confess?" asked Elizabeth, elated.
"Can you not trust me once more? Are you not aware of the power of my love for you?" Tim asked, holding Elizabeth's face gently in his hands. "Do not fear, you will be released tomorrow and those perpetrators will be locked up," Timothy reassured her.
"Thank you, Tim, I love you so much," Elizabeth said romantically. Just as she was about to kiss Timothy, she heard a voice.
"Your time with her is up, sir," the warden interrupted.
"Oh my goodness, why now?" Elizabeth muttered, frustratedly hitting her forehead with her hand.
"Goodbye," Timothy bid, sadly.
"Yes! I will be released tomorrow!" Elizabeth shouted in excitement. "Linda! Scott! Get ready to pay for everything!" she exclaimed with anger, her face turning into a scowl.

"My love! Wow, I am overjoyed. Tomorrow will be the happiest day of my life," Linda screamed, holding a glass and a bottle of champagne in her hand.
"Here, love. Let's have a sip together," said Linda, offering the bottle to Scott, who was busy on his phone.
"Thank you," Scott replied, taking a sip from the glass. "Give it to me!" he commanded, taking the bottle from Linda. "Do not get drunk from excitement over Elizabeth's life sentence, ".
"Give it back to me!" Linda declared, trying to retrieve the bottle. Just then, something dangerous fell on the floor and Linda became stunned.
Linda halted in her steps, glancing over at the object with a feeling of unease.
"How do I know something isn't right?" she murmured to herself, gingerly picking up the crimson item.
Looking back at Scott, she urged, "Darling, we need to leave this place immediately. Something is amiss."
"Leave? Where to? What's wrong?" Scott questioned, visibly taken aback. "What about our plan to get Elizabeth locked up? Tomorrow was supposed to be D-Day for that."
"Stop it!" Linda snapped, her voice rising in anger. "You have no clue about what's coming, do you? Do you even know what the color red symbolizes? Forget about Elizabeth. We both know she's innocent, but our lives are at stake here."
"As for you, Elizabeth, this isn't over. I'll be back for you," she concluded, her tone full of fury.
Within the hour, Scott and Linda had packed their belongings and left.
*In the courtroom*
Silence enveloped the room as everyone waited for the court proceedings to begin.
"Your honor, Elizabeth is guilty of the crime, and we have no evidence to prove otherwise," one of the plaintiffs declared. "She deserves to be locked up..."
"Objection, your honor," Timothy interjected. "Elizabeth is innocent of all the accusations against her."
"What proof do you have?"
"Listen to this!" Timothy exclaimed, playing a recorded conversation he had with Linda for all to hear.
Gasps filled the room as everyone listened in utter shock.
Breaking the silence, Timothy stated, "Linda may be nowhere to be found because she may have sensed something was wrong."
Judge Brown sighed deeply and declared, "With this evidence, I hereby declare Elizabeth innocent and acquitted. However, Linda will have to face the consequences for her actions!" He concluded with a resounding strike of the gavel.
Everyone dispersed to their respective homes.
"I love you, Elizabeth," Timothy exclaimed with joy, hugging his lover tightly. "Thank you for trusting me."
"It's all thanks to you," Elizabeth replied with a smile, unable to contain her happiness.
As Timothy held her, he noticed his clothes were soaked with tears,
As he pulled her off his shoulder, Timothy inquired, "What's wrong? Aren't you happy?"
Elizabeth's tear-stained face turned to face him. "Happy?" she echoed. "Why should I be happy? My parents and grandparents are no more, and the people behind their deaths have not been held accountable."
Her fury is evident, Elizabeth declared, "I won't let them go unpunished. They must pay!"
"They'll pay”, assured Timothy, taking her hand, he said; "Let's go home."
They drove away from the courthouse and arrived at the late Brontes' mansion, Timothy's parents' mansion. The atmosphere was serene and perfect for relaxing, with beautiful trees dotting the compound and numerous expensive cars visible.
"Impressive," Elizabeth thought to herself.
Entering the sitting room, Timothy excused himself, leaving Elizabeth to admire the grandeur of the estate.
Minutes later, he returned, kneeling before her with a golden ring in hand. "Will you marry me?" he asked.
Elizabeth's eyes widened in surprise. "Is it that urgent?" she questioned, a small smile appearing on her face.
"It is," Timothy confirmed. "Please don't decline."
"Say yes, say yes!" echoed a crowd, who had appeared from seemingly nowhere.
"It seems he was prepared for this," Elizabeth thought, before agreeing, "Yes, I will."
Without wasting any time, Timothy slid the ring onto her finger. "Thank you for accepting me."
"Wow, this calls for a celebration!" exclaimed the crowd, as they toasted glasses of wine in congratulation.
Months Later,
After their marriage, Elizabeth and Timothy were overjoyed to learn of Elizabeth's pregnancy. Timothy expressed his hopes for a son, whom they would name James.
"Let's leave it to the decision of fate, darling," Elizabeth replied with a smile. "But I do pray that your wish comes true."
Twenty years later,
"Please welcome our new CEO, James Timothy!" The grand ballroom of the Mirage Hotel and Casino erupted in cheers and applause for James as he made his entrance.
"Congratulations, James. I'm so happy for you," Bethel, James' college friend, congratulated him.
James gratefully embraced Bethel, saying, "Thank you, my friend. I'm glad you came. And I must thank my parents as well." James gestured to Mrs. Elizabeth, his mom, who beamed with pride. "I wouldn't be here without them."
"Yeah, they raised a remarkable young man," Bethel agreed, walking away with his girlfriend, Cordelia, to enjoy a glass of wine.
Upon returning to his parents' table, James kissed Elizabeth, his mom on the forehead and said with gratitude, "Thank you, Mom. And thanks to, Dad. You both are simply the best."
"We couldn't be more proud of you, James," Elizabeth replied with a smile, pushing a glass of wine towards her son. "Here, finish this up. I need to take a call."
"Hello, my love. What are you doing all alone over here?" Elizabeth asked Timothy, joining him on the patio.
"Nothing," Timothy replied with a smile. "Just admiring how beautiful you look today."
"Stop it," Elizabeth blushed. "Come on, let's go see our son, he's probably getting impatient."
Minutes turned to hours and eventually, the event ended. The family tagged home together.
The family enjoyed their time together, discussing James' studies and catching up on their lives.
"So, James, tell us, how are your studies and everything else?" Elizabeth inquired.
"Mom, everything is going well," James reassured her.
"James, don't tell us you haven't met anyone special yet," Timothy teased.
"Dad, stop it. I know what you're trying to insinuate," James replied with a smile.
"I have finally acquired one," James confessed. "She exudes elegance and I assure you, you will love her more than me."
"Wow, if it makes our son happy, then we will surely love her too," Timothy and Elizabeth chimed in together.
"I believe we should get to know her," Elizabeth said anxiously.
"Don't worry, Mom! I have planned a surprise for you on your birthday. I promise to bring her to the party. Just be patient, your birthday is only two days away and you'll get to meet her."
