I Need A Hero

"Are we really going to be able to pull this off?" I asked her as I looked at the fake ID's my best friend Zoe had supplied me. Her face was bright and wide-eyed, she was stunning she had the body that you find on page three style posters, blonde hair and bright blue eyes. "Don't worry Sophie." She laughed as we walked down the cold street, she was wearing a short black dress, and I was wearing a purple dress slightly longer than hers. "You won't even need the ID," she laughed as she adjusted her breasts in her dress. "these will get us by the bouncer." I laughed shaking my head. She was right whatever Zoe wanted she normally got. If she wanted to get into a club she would, even if I was just shy of my eighteenth birthday. She walked confidently down the main street of the town we grew up in, towards the club she was desperate to get into. "Escape." I knew it was an exclusive club, ran by the infamous Anderson family. Zoe ran straight up to the bouncer before I reached him, she yelled her name he ticked it off his clipboard. She was whispering in his ear and he opened the red rope and just like that we were in. "See told you." She laughed as we went down the stairs to the club. We entered a black and purple room, there was a stage to the right, a bar at the opposite end. The floor between the bar and stage was packed, a band played indie rock and everyone danced. There were four purple booths opposite us beyond the dance floor. I heard Zoe call my name and she took my hand towards the bar area. Confidently she pushed her way through the masses. She ordered two vodka and cokes and I stood just behind her. I wasn't nervous, or uncomfortable I was used to being in a busy bar and club. I mean my dad owned one but it was different here I was anonymous. When I stepped into my Dad's club I was watched, protected and definitely not able to buy alcohol. "Here," Zoe said handing me a drink, I looked at her as she had a smug face. "Were these free?" I asked her, she laughed as she took a sip, I laughed at my best friend. "You're terrible," I said as I took a sip, "wow." I realised it was a lot more vodka than coke. "What did you promise the poor guy?" I asked as I looked beyond her at the cute bartender, she tapped the side of her nose and winked. "Come on!" She slammed her glass on the bar after our third maybe fourth double strength vodkas, "I wanna dance and you should dance and forget all about Ryan Miller." She was right, I had to enjoy myself and forget all about my ex-boyfriend. We were a typical on and off again school sweetheart couple. One minute I was all over him, the next I wanted him gone. But, it was well and truly over now, Ryan Miller was a Bastard. The music was great and we were dancing to the sounds, amongst the heavy crowds and the flashing lightning. We slipped off to the bathroom as the band changed and then returned. "Oh shit." Zoe had seen him just as I had. He was front and centre stage singing down the microphone, "Ryan," she hissed before taking my arm, "come on we can go." "No," I shook my head, "I have come here to enjoy my night out, he's probably having too much fun being adored by women and probably sleeping with them afterwards." What Ryan loved was Ryan and the women who also loved the music man. "It's annoying his music is bloody good." She spat. I nodded he had talent but he was a lousy boyfriend. We continued to drink and dance through his set. As I listened to his lyrics it hit me I never loved Ryan, he was the boy that I thought I had to date because my friends said we looked good together. "I'll get us another drink." Zoe cheered as she headed back to the bar, I smiled as she walked through the masses and I turned and to my disgust, Ryan stood in front of me. "Nice to see you supporting me."Ryan slurred, had he been drinking again? I shook my head and went to walk away from him but he grabbed my arm. "Hey, you're not going that easy." He spat, I turned to look at him and his hand on my arm. "Let go of my arm," My voice was monotone I wasn't afraid of Ryan, he was just a drunk. "Not until you leave with me, you're my girl." He said as his eyes rolled, he was the drunkest I had ever seen him. "Let go Ryan I won't ask you again." I hissed, but he squeezed tighter and gripped harder. "Argh." I let out as silently as I could. "I will drag you out of here Sophie I will rip the hair from your scalp." He growled as he squeezed even harder. Ryan was vile and I had been warned by his violent outbursts but it wasn't until recently he had tried to push me around. "I swear to God Ryan if you don't let me go I will make sure you leave here limping." My voice was a low growl. "C'mon Ru-" "I f*****g mean it, Ryan, let go of me!" My voice was getting louder and the struggle trying to get out of his grip must have caught someones attention as a voice behind me made me jump. "Oi!" Ryan loosened his grip instantly as he looked at the person who owned the voice. I turned two see two figures one a tall guy with blondish hair and blue eyes he was handsome looking, he looked ready for a fight. But the man closest to me and who I think the voice came from was a man a few years older than me his eyes were a bright emerald green and his hair a dark brown which was messily styled. I forcefully removed my arm out of the way of Ryan, I looked down at the redness he had caused. "What the hell you playing at Miller? I warned you about causing a scene in the club." The man with emerald eyes demanded I looked back at Ryan he looked violently at the men in front of him. "What are you doing interfering, me and Sophie were just talking she's my girl." He slurred, I laughed. "I'm not your girl Ryan," I looked at the guys behind me, "I'm not his girl." The guy with the amazing emerald coloured eyes raised an eyebrow as he looked at me, then I looked back at Ryan. "I stopped being your girl ages ago, now leave me alone." It was obvious drunk Ryan wasn't taking my rejection very well and in his anger must have forgotten he was in public as he reached towards me, calling me a b***h. But the two guys reacted faster than the slightly tipsy me as they grabbed him just as some bouncers approached. "Get him outta here." The emerald-eyed man ordered throwing an angry, violent Ryan at the two, bouncers who pulled him through the masses. "Thanks," I looked at both of them, who were now side by side, they both smiled at me. "Ryan Miller is becoming a right pain in the ass, did he hurt you?" Emerald eyes asked as he pointed to my hand, I shook my head. "No, I'll be fine." I smiled. "I'm Adam, this is Damien." Emerald eyes said as he pointed to the blonde-haired guy beside him "Hi, I'm Sophie," I said as I tucked a piece of my chocolate brown curled hair behind my ear. "Sophie!" Zoe said as she pushed past Damien and Adam and reached me. "You okay I have just seen that prick Miller, has he hurt you?" She asked I shook my head as I looked at my blonde friend. "Look Zoe," I said as I reached in my bag and grabbed my mobile phone, "I'm going to get Marc to pick me up. You enjoy yourself and I'll call you tomorrow." I explained, she shook her head turned and handed her drinks to Adam who took them without her even looking at him. "Come on I'm coming too." She said as she linked my sore arm. "No it's fine go and flirt more with your bar guy and I'll get Marc to come for me." I pressed, she let go and hugged me. I turned to walk away and a voice made me turn to face them, Zoe was looking at him confused. "Will you be okay?" He asked me, his emerald green eyes locked on to mine. "I will be, thanks.Goodnight." I replied as I turned and walked off the dancefloor and up the stairs to the exit. The cold air hit me straight away I instantly wished I had a jacket. I began to walk, I knew my way home and I had enough cash for a taxi if I was tired of walking. "Sophie!" A slurred voice made me stop, my heart was racing I never turned to face Ryan, "you stupid bitch." He slurred, as he grabbed my hair. The world span as he used my hair to turn me to face him. "Don't you ever embarrass me like that again!" His breath stank of booze, he tugged my hair before letting it go. He pulled me in for a drunken kiss his boozy lips touched mine and I bit down hard on his. His lips dropped mine as he put his hands up to it, I made a break for freedom. My heart raced but I wasn't fast enough, he grabbed my wrist and within a second he had turned me and smacked me across the face with the back of his hand. My legs gave way and I fell to the floor, he still had a hold on my wrist. "Ryan!" I screamed as I fought back, I wasn't going down without a fight. As he straddled me tugging at my hair, he still held my wrist as I kicked and bucked to get him off. He shouted and I screamed. I moved my free hand in the home to find anything to hit him with, a bottle, a rock, anything. He smacked me again and I grabbed something heavy nearby but he grabbed it first and went to hit me with it, but the third blow never came. He was stopped, someone had stopped him.
