Venice – Doges Palace
Lucrezia stared absently across St Marks Palazzo at the tourists browsing in the shops. They were oblivious to the real Venice and its challenges, but she would change all that. It was the second day of her Doge meeting, the honorific title appropriate as she was the secret Doge. She had adopted the name for this council also as it gave the proceedings a sense of historical relevance showing symbolically that the old Venetian Republic was returning to life again.
