Carlos kept pacing around the room, constantly checking out of the hotel rooms window. I was perched on the end of the bed. My foot was tapping because of my nerves. He’s going to find us sooner or later and he’s going to kill us. What was he waiting for?

“Don’t say that Maria, we are going to be fine” he cut me off. I glanced down at the ground for a moment and then decided I was going to say it anyway.
“At the lake, when José had you by the throat, I saw red. I wanted to kill him when he hurt you. I don’t know what came over me but it caused me to react the way I did.
