The Unspoken War: Part 10 – A Legacy of Peace
Arjun quickly became part of Lalit's family. Although he had grown up without knowing his true relatives, he never felt like a stranger. Deepika treated him like her own grandson, while Deepak and Manju helped him adjust to his new life.
One day, Arjun asked Lalit a question that no one had ever dared to ask.
"Grandfather... after everything you lost, do you ever regret fighting?"
Lalit remained silent for a long time. Finally, he replied,
"I regret every life that was lost. But if I could go back, I would choose peace much earlier. Revenge gave me victories that felt like defeats."
Those words stayed with Arjun forever.
Inspired by Lalit's journey, Arjun decided to study history and conflict resolution. He wanted future generations to understand that hatred is learned—but so is forgiveness.
Years later, Arjun established the Lalit Peace Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping families affected by violence, educating young people about peace, and supporting communities recovering from conflict.
The foundation built libraries, schools, and training centers in villages that had once been divided by fear.
On the day the foundation was inaugurated, hundreds of people gathered.
Lalit, now elderly and walking with a cane, was invited to give the opening speech.
He looked at the crowd, smiled gently, and said:
«"A person is not remembered for the enemies they defeated, but for the lives they changed."»
The audience rose in applause.
As the ceremony ended, Lalit stood beside Deepika, watching children laugh and play in the very place where gunfire had once echoed.
He whispered,
"This is the victory I spent my whole life searching for."
Deepika smiled. new lalit
"And now... our story belongs to them."
As the sun slowly disappeared behind the mountains, Lalit and his family walked home together, knowing that their greatest inheritance was not wealth or power—but peace, truth, and love.
The war had ended long ago.
Its legacy would now be one of hope.
The End.
