Nora was thinking Amy’s words We are running out of time. He needs to remember. I have to make him remember she said to herself.
She was about to take another sip of her coffee when her phone rung. She saw Jennifer's name on the screen. She smiled and answered:
“Good morning Jennifer”
“Good morning Nora” Jennifer said back. “How are you?”
“I am good” Nora answered and before having the chance of asking her as well she heard Pauline yelling:
“Just good??? You must be joking. I would be living in a dream if I had danced with Mark White”
Nora laughed
“Good morning to you too Pauline” she said.
“Yes yes good morning” Pauline said.
“As you see, you have some serious explanation to do” Jennifer said.
“And for this reason we are coming to your place” Pauline completed.
“I can only say that I am expecting you” Nora said smiling.
“Great” Jennifer said. “Will be there in 10 minutes.”
Nora hung up the phone, looked outside of her window and smiled. We spoke, she thought. He asked me to dance, he told me that I am beautiful.
She grabbed her phone and saw that Amy wrote back. Mary asked for more details but she didn’t had time. She texted back: "We talked a bit and danced. He still has no recollection of his past lives. Cannot speak now, will give you a call once I am free."
She put her phone to the side, stood up and went to prepare the coffee. 10 minutes later her door bell rung.
She opened the door, and saw a sleepy Jennifer and a very energetic Pauline.
“Good mooooorning” said Pauline with a singing voice.
“Oh my god, is she always like that?” Nora asked Jennifer whilst hugging Pauline.
Jennifer yawned.
“Yes she is”, she answered
Nora laughed.
“Ok, come in.”
Both followed Nora.
“Oh breakfast” Pauline said clapping her hands and sat in the table.
Jennifer looked at Nora, and shaped the word sorry with her lips. Nora smiled. No worries she replied.
They all sat and started eating.
“OK, tell us everything” Pauline said whilst chewing a slice of bread with butter and orange jam on it. “Oh my god this jam is good.”
“Have nothing to say” Nora said smiling.
Both stopped eating and looked at Nora with disbelief.
“Please, Pauline said. Of course you have something to say. You caught Mark's White attention, that's huge.”
Nora smiled.
“I thought he is a womanizer, so every woman gets his attention.”
“Well, he likes flirting that's for sure. But he asked you to dance. And his girlfriend was there.”
“He has a girlfriend?” Nora asked surprised
“Oh, you didn’t know?” Jennifer said and took another bite of her scone.
“No, I had no clue”.
“Yes, he is with Anna Simons. He was dancing with her before you”
“Oh, I don't remember her.”
“She is really beautiful and nice too. I spoke with her a few times.”
“I see” Nora said looking on the floor.
“Hey, Jennifer said and touched Nora’s hand, are you ok?”
“Yes, is just that...”
“You didn't expect him to have a girlfriend, am I right? And now, you feel sad”, Jennifer interrupted her.
Nora sighed. You guys have no idea, she thought.
“Well, yes, I mean, obviously I like him, and I don’t know but yesterday there was something between us.”
“I know” Pauline said.
Nora looked at her suspicious.
“What you mean you know?”
“I mean that I saw you. Everyone did. Everyone's eyes were on you. I bet even Anna saw you. That's why once you left she went to him and hugged him.”
Nora felt a pinch on her heart. She stayed quite.
“So, will you tell us what you guys discussed?”
“Nothing special. He introduced himself, told me that I am beautiful...”
The coffee came out Pauline's mouth.
“Oh, but nothing happened” said by changing her voice pretending to be Nora. “Are you kidding me?”
Nora smiled.
“Careful with the coffee, she said. And he just gave me a compliment. Like you said he has a girlfriend.”
Pauline and Jennifer looked at each other.
“I guess you are right” Jennifer said.
“The fact is that you danced with him and he gave you a compliment. Be happy” Pauline said and looked at Nora with a dreamy look.
Jennifer stood up.
“OK ladies, I would love to stay, but I have to go at my parents’ house.”
“Can you please give me a ride too? MY apartment is on your way.” Pauline asked.
“Of course” Jennifer said. “Bye Nora, thanks for having us over. See you on Monday in the office.”
Nora smiled.
“Bye you two, drive safely” she said and closed the door.She went in the kitchen and took her phone. 10 new messages. She smiled. Oh you guys, she thought, I will tell you everything now.
