My Personal Crush: The Hidden Crown
Chapter 3
A few weeks had passed since the night of the grand ball, and life had shifted in ways I had never imagined. The whole city now knew my truth—I was the Boss of the World—but instead of distance or fear, I felt closer to everyone than ever before. I still spent my mornings at Sunshine Orphanage, helping with chores and playing with the children, just like I always had. The only difference now was that when I walked through the gates, I wasn’t invisible anymore; I was welcomed with warm smiles and open arms.
Kael was by my side almost every day. Together, we had started major projects to improve the orphanage—new beds, better food, books, toys, and even a proper school building right on the grounds. But he never let me get lost in work or responsibilities. He always made sure we had time just for us.
One sunny afternoon, he took my hand and led me toward the city center. “I have something special to show you,” he said, his amber eyes sparkling with excitement.
We arrived at a beautiful, historic building I had never paid much attention to before. It stood tall and elegant, surrounded by green gardens and fountains. A sign at the entrance read: The Heart Foundation.
I looked at him, confused. “What is this place?”
Kael smiled softly. “This is where we start something new. Something that belongs to both of us. I know you already help people all over the world, quietly and secretly. But now, I want the whole world to see exactly who you are—not just the powerful leader, but the kind, generous soul who cares so deeply for others. This foundation will help children, families, and anyone in need. And it will be run by you, with me standing right beside you.”
My heart swelled with emotion. It wasn’t just a building or a project; it was him telling me that he respected my purpose, my heart, and everything I stood for.
“Kael…” I whispered, “You didn’t have to do this. You already give so much.”
He pulled me close, his voice low and warm. “Everything I do now is for us. You showed me that true wealth isn’t gold or titles—it’s the good you do and the love you share. You taught me that. Now, let’s show the world together.”
As we walked inside, I saw that the walls were decorated with photos—not of my companies or my achievements, but of moments from the orphanage: me reading to the children, helping in the garden, laughing with friends. Pictures of me, just as I was, without any crown or disguise.
“This is who I fell in love with,” Kael said, gesturing to the photos. “This is the person the world should know.”
Later that evening, we went up to the highest floor of my skyscraper—the private suite where I used to change my identity alone. Now, it felt different. It wasn’t a hiding place anymore; it was a place where I could be fully myself, with the person I loved most.
We stood by the large glass window, looking out over the city lights that stretched as far as the eye could see. Below, everything I owned and everything I had built hummed with life. But none of it mattered as much as the hand holding mine.
“Do you ever miss being invisible?” Kael asked quietly, breaking the silence. “Now that everyone knows who you are, now that you are famous and powerful… do you ever wish you could go back to just being the quiet girl at the orphanage?”
I thought for a moment, then turned to face him, resting my hands on his chest. “Sometimes, I miss the quiet. But I never regret revealing the truth. Because if I had stayed hidden, I would never have known for sure that you loved me. And now… now I get to live both lives. I am still that quiet girl who helps others, but I am also the one who can change the world for the better. And best of all… I get to do it with you.”
Kael smiled, that warm, gentle smile that belonged only to me. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, simple ring. It wasn’t made of gold or covered in diamonds—it was made of smooth, polished silver, shaped like two hearts woven together.
“I don’t have a crown to give you,” he said softly, his voice sincere and steady. “You already have the whole world in your hands. But I can give you this. It’s a promise. A promise that no matter how big your empire grows, no matter how powerful you become… I will always be the one who sees you. The one who loves you. The one who stays right here, by your side, forever.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, happy and bright. I didn’t need fancy jewels or grand gifts. This—this promise, this love, this man—was worth more than every company, every bank, and every treasure I owned combined.
I nodded, my voice trembling with joy. “Yes. Always.”
He slipped the ring onto my finger, and then he pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly as if he never wanted to let go. Outside, the city sparkled, my empire stretched across the globe, and my hidden crown was finally worn openly. But inside, in his embrace, I knew the truth: my greatest treasure was never my power or my wealth. It was him. It was us.
I had searched for love while hiding my crown, and I had found it. Now, together, we would rule not with power or fear, but with kindness, loyalty, and a love that could light up the whole world.
And our beautiful story was only just beginning.
