It rumbled louder, harder. Dust and debris rained from the ceiling as stone walls shook under the violence of whatever was happening beneath them. Liam could feel the very ground shift, buck, as though something huge turned over deep inside the earth. Ava's words still echoed in his head: The darkness is alive. Liam struggled to his feet, his heart racing. He reached out, grabbing Ava's arm for balance as the world around them shook. The look in her eyes a look of abject terror- confirmed his worst fears: whatever was waking up, it was a great deal more dangerous than they had imagined. "We need to get out of here!" Liam shouted above the din, voice hoarse from the earlier scuffle with Aiden. Ava nodded, her face ashen but resolute. She clasped his hand tightly, her fingers quivering.
