Emily woke up to outside the cabin rustling. Her pulse thumping in her chest, she reached out for Daniel automatically but the bed beside her was chilly and empty. Fear seized her and her gut knotted. She sat up, staring towards the window, where the early morning light poured gentle golden tones over the room through the thick drapes. Though Emily's intuition shouted that something was wrong, outside the world was still calm. She got out of bed and softly threw her feet on the chilly hardwood floor.
