Ch 10 Reign's POV

1420 Words
Dear Diary, The last few days have flown by and in my haste to get ready for my alpha ceremony I have not written. Today is Monday November 19th and other packs will be arriving today. My dad will be greeting them and deciding where everyone is staying because as he says, it will be his last time greeting visitors as alpha. In truth I think that he is happy to hand over leadership, but I also know he is worried about me. I want to tell him that I have it handled but I don’t know if I do. I mean I know that I can lead this pack but the choices that I make through every challenge will ultimately define whether I am a good leader or not and I know there will be tough decisions at some point. Many of the packs coming here already wonder about a woman alpha and I fear that if I don’t find my mate quickly then I will be left open for an attack by those who wish to challenge me, especially since not only am I a female alpha, but I’ll also have a female beta. Speaking of Nessa, her and I have grown close over the past few days, and it feels like I have known her my whole life. We went shopping and she has now decorated her room and I have been showing her the ropes of what she will be doing as my beta. Many of the things she will be doing are things that I did for my dad while I was training to help lighten his load. It’s uncanny how quickly she has caught onto everything, she will be a fabulous beta. Well, I need to go get ready for the day, Nessa and I have decided to sit in my room and watch TV while packs arrive so that we can watch them from the distance. I hate to say it, but I am a little nervous. Goodbye for now, Alpha Reign I follow my routine and put away my diary and head for my room, when I open my door Nessa is sitting on my couch waiting for me. Her mid length dirty blonde hair is tied up in a high ponytail and she is wearing ripped up dark blue jeans with a plain black crop top and a purple and blue flannel. When I close my bedroom door, she turns her head toward me and a smile breaks out on her face when her green eyes meet mine. “Hey sorry, I thought waiting in here for you would be best. My room doesn’t have a window that faces the front drive and through my open windows I heard someone say that someone was pulling up. You’re just in time to see them get out of their car unless you want to change out of your PJ’s first,” Nessa said brightly with a smile on her face “It depends, who is it?” I reply before I remember that she probably wouldn’t know many of our visitors anyway, “If you don’t know who it is just describe them.” Nessa stares out the window and several seconds pass before she speaks, “Old man and woman, guy walks with a limp, has grey hair, but not balding, a little chubby but not fat. Woman has shoulder length black hair with grey streaks.” When she finishes, she turned back to me. “Oh, those are my grandparents, specifically my dad’s parents. My mom's mom died shortly before I was conceived, and my grandpa took off after my mom died; he was so full of greif. We don't know where he's at but hes sent me a few letters. We tried to track him down with no luck and eventually came to the conclusion he would come back when he was ready.. I’ll talk to my dad's parents later, I am gonna grab some clothes and take a shower.” “Grab your matching outfit,” Nessa replied with a big smile on her face, and I laughed. I walked into my closet and grabbed my dark blue ripped jeans and navy-blue crop top and a yellow flannel with dark blue accents. We will be wearing the same outfit, but I will be representing our pack colors. After I am showered and dressed, I style my hair, I opt for a high ponytail as well. I mean if were going to dress the same for the day we may as well go all out, the only difference in our ponytails is that hers is straight and mine isn’t due to my natural waves. I walk out of the bathroom and go into my room and sit in my papasan chair by the window and Nessa is sitting on the couch in the spot closest to the window. “Lookin’ good hot stuff.” Nessa says with a big smile and we both laugh. “Anyone else show up yet?” I asked. “Yes, the Red Cedar pack has already shown up and White Oak is right behind them at the gate now.” Nessa says “We can open the French doors so we can hear conversation, hell if you want, we can go stand out on the balcony.” I say and Nessa eyeballs the balcony, “It’s safe I promise the contractors put in new thin black steel railing when they remodeled my room, it's all secure.” “Sorry I’m just a little iffy with heights but as long as the railing is secure then yes, it sounds like a plan to me,” she says with a small smile. “Oh, and then we can hear what everyone says to your dad as they arrive!” Nessa says seeming more excited, and we get up to head to the balcony, “Oh, I called to see if we both could have coffee. Jan went into town this morning and was nice enough to say she would bring us both back a frape. She said she would bring it up when she got here.” “A girl after my own heart,” I say and laugh as we stand next to each other on the balcony. A vehicle is pulled away by our people so it can be parked and the two gentlemen who were talking to my father walk into the pack house. Just after two SUVs pull up out front, one that is an all-black suburban like the FBI drive in movies and the other in front of that one that is a black jeep grand Cherokee. “It’s the White Oak pack,” Nessa says what I am thinking as the SUV in the back opens and out steps a man who was shorter than I expected. Strictly judging from my dad’s height, I would say he is about my height, 5’8 maybe shorter. He is wearing a fitted dark blue suit with a white shirt and yellow tie. “That's Alpha Cole,” Nessa says, and I can’t help but think to myself every awful thing he has said to my father during phone calls, the fact is he’s a real bastard. For a moment I feel a slight sting of disappointment as Cole goes to talk to my father, I don’t see Ryan anywhere and I was really hoping to put a face with the name. That is until I see the driver door on the Jeep open. Out steps a man with semi long black hair that falls to his neck in the back and as he turns around, I can see that he has a short well-groomed beard and his hair while kind of long is well groomed too. He is wearing dark blue jeans, cowboy boots, and a navy-blue button up shirt. This man that I have only previously had phone conversations with is now here in front of me, looking just like he did in my vision. “Mate,” Ivory says to me. “He is the one the moon goddess showed us.” My inner dialogue is interrupted, by Nessa, she must have caught me staring, “I told you beta Ryan was cute.” When I turn to face her, she has a knowing smile on her face, “he’s unmated you know so there is no crime in ogling him a little.” We both then giggle like high school girls.
