Ch 5 Nessa's POV

1404 Words
I was visiting with Vanessa when my phone started ringing and I didn’t recognize the number, but my number is on my answering machine, so I had to answer, it could be anyone. “Hold on Vanessa I will be right back.” I said as I step away and answer my phone. “Alpha Reign,” I answered. “Hello Alpha, this is the beta Ryan at White Oak. I was calling to say we would be at your ceremony but then I was informed you wanted to talk to me, and I thought this was better than leaving a voice mail.” The man I now knew was named Ryan said. His voice was strong and manly but sounded kind. “Yes, well actually I was going to call your alpha, but I haven’t yet because I was told he wouldn’t be around, and I assumed that you would be away on whatever business with him.” I began rambling, but caught myself, “Anyway, I was out for a morning run the other day and found an injured wolf who told me she is from your pack. She has been provided medical attention and will be able to leave in a few days’ time. Though you could just take her home with you after the ceremony if that is what you so choose so that you do not need to make a special trip.” I told him. “Oh, thank you for your kindness, Alpha her family has been desperate to find her but did not want to trespass on your pack lands. I will inform my Alpha immediately that she is safe so he may speak with her family.” He said, “Oh and Alpha, I hope that we can be friendly and continue to have a peaceful existence together under your rule.” He added and sounded very sincere, and I was suddenly very happy he had called or else I would have had to talk to Cole b and he could be very condescending. “I look forward to negotiations and to meeting you Ryan,” I replied in a semi-seductive voice and then hung up the phone. I’m not sure what came over me in that moment, but I couldn’t help but smile. I put my phone back in my pocket and walked back into the hospital room. Vanessa is smiling when I walk back in the room, “I heard that you know,” she says, and I laugh. “So, your wolf isn’t sleeping anymore then?” I ask knowing her senses would be heightened with her wolf. “No, she woke up this morning that is part of why I wanted you to come see me. I should be healed by the end of the day, tomorrow at the latest and I was wondering if I could leave the hospital.” She said, and then she added. “Beta Ryan is totally cute by the way and unmated.” I laugh again, “I am sure he is very attractive, and yes you can stay on the 3rd floor of the pack house with me. You can come with me tonight if it is okay with Grace, they just finished the room that will be for my beta.” “Well, I hate to put your beta out,” she said, and I shook my head. “No, you misunderstand I haven’t chosen a beta yet. Our pack has been run without a beta family for the last several years since my great grandfather killed the beta family. Since then, we have been slowly bringing the pack back to its former glory and I aim to further that progress and restore the balance further. As of now the 3rd floor is being remodeled and I will have my beta and I there and my dad will be moving out after I officially take over. He will help my grandfather with our business in the civilian world and train to take it over and help me when I need it here. He will be living in a house on the outskirts of town. My grandfather built the business slowly while he was alpha, and he was strained working here and there and he didn’t want my father to suffer that burden so my father will take it over slowly so my grandfather can retire and eventually I will do the same for my father when I have an heir.” I realized I was rambling and stopped talking, what was it about Vanessa that made me feel safe enough to tell her so much. “So, then what?” Vanessa asked, “Will you be remodeling the second floor after your dad moves out?” “Well, yes and no. The 2nd floor will be for the beta family in the end, but I want them to model it to their own taste. So, the plan is for us to share a floor while we get things going around here and who knows how long it will take for us to find our mates and start families.” I finished laying out my plan and shrugged. Vanessa smiled, “That’s actually a well thought out plan. And thank you for not making me feel like a burden.” She said suddenly sounding a little sad. I sat in the chair next to her bed and held her hand, “You’re not a burden, please don’t ever think that about yourself.” I said and gave her a genuine smile. “I don’t normally confide in people, but I feel safe with you. I can’t explain it, but I do.” She pauses, “I think I want to stay here, in Blood River.” I get ready to speak but she holds up her hand signaling she isn’t finished, “Please let me finish, my family they are all wonderful people, but I am the outcast. My eldest brother is one of the top warriors in the pack and praised for it constantly and he has a beautiful mate who is treated equally as well because she is also an amazing warrior. Then of my two older sisters, one was mated to a beta in another pack, so she is praised for being an amazing wife to such a powerful man and the other left the pack lands and became a big shot lawyer and even though she is not mated she is praised for being so independent. Lastly the youngest of my siblings are twins, one boy and one girl and that itself is amazing.” She paused and wiped the tears from her eyes, “Don’t get me wrong I know they love me, but I also know that my dad had an affair, and I was product of that infidelity, and because of that mom just doesn’t see me the same as my siblings.” She finished speaking and lowered her hand to signal I could respond. “Blood River will gladly welcome you here if you so choose, but please be sure this is what you want Vanessa. Don’t choose this just because you are upset, please think about it and make sure you want to be here.” I reply to her knowing I would never turn her away. “I’ve already thought it through, Silva and I have talked about it since she woke up. Silva says fate brought us here and that this is where we belong. She said as soon as she saw who you were she knew she was meant to be led by your wolf and that this felt like home.” Vanessa finished speaking now with a fragile smile on her face. I stood from my seat and hugged her, “I would be happy to welcome you into the pack but please call your family first and tell them this is what you want and then we will go from there.” I replied, “Now I am going to go speak with Grace and see if we can get you moved to the pack house and tomorrow, we will go shopping, I need a few things and you will need clothes and I need my dress tailored for the ceremony.” “Sounds good,” she said and gave me a smile and I stepped out to talk to Grace.
