Chapter 9

She remembered her mother's anguish vividly and the way this woman had pestered her when she was alive. Even when she was banished from the kingdom. She would try to create all sorts of problems in her parent's life. And she was told by her maternal grandparents that she was the reason for my parent's accident. She watched her closely as she approached her but all of a sudden Lady Louise stopped moving a few feet away from her and looked at her with discomfort but there was a cunning smile on her face. “Princess Amelia or should I say ex-princess, Amelia.” She laughed a little then continued. “ This must be such a difficult time for you.” Her words oozing an obvious sympathy that clashed with the avid scrutiny she went on, “I admire you for your courage to come at my nephew's wedding but shouldn't be sitting at home crying because he broke your heart by marrying someone else.”   Amelia held onto her temper with a tactic determination, she hoped it did not show in her face. “You flatter me lady Louise, I can assure you it took no courage at all.”   Lady Louise sighed deeply. “Well you are well-groomed by your parents it seems and I must say you are very good at hiding your emotions with that irritating smile of yours.” She said patronizingly. “ You're are like your father, he clung to the magnificent aristocrat pride even when he lost everything. One could only admire his spirit in the face of such tragedy and wish that he had been rewarded for it but sadly he is gone. If he would have agreed to marry me he would have been alive but your dad finished everything” Amelia was furious at the mention of her father and she could not trust herself to speak, so she raised her brows instead.   “And now you know how it feels to be heartbroken. Your dad broke me broke my heart even after I was engaged to him. I loved him but he chose your mother. And now you will have to live with a broken heart... “ Sudden she stopped speaking and lifted her eyes and looked at the person who had swiftly walked in between her and Amelia and was staring at her with anger and hatred written all over his face. Amelia watched with surprise as all of a sudden Lucas came and stood between her and lady Louise. She looked at Lady Louise’s Facial expression and saw that her expressions had gone very pale but instantly she changed it and looked at Luca with a smiling face. “Oh Lucas, how lovely to see you, darling. I must say I am impressed, you have grown into such a handsome man just like your dad” the tone was very suggestive and slightly husky and somehow Amelia could notice hidden meaning behind her words.   Lucas was glaring at her and warning her not to cross her limit. He had just gone out to the washroom when all of a sudden his Beta informed him that lady Louise was approaching Amelia, he had rushed with all the speed he could but he was too late as Lady Louise had reached before him but thankfully no damage had been done. As he knew the reason She was standing a few feet away from Amelia.   Eric was snarling with anger as he wanted to pounce on lady Louise and so was Lucas but they couldn’t create any scene at the banquet as lady Louis was Harry’s aunt.   “I wish I could say likewise, lady Louise, I am warning you to go and find someone else to entertain yourself, don't bother my sister as she is not interested in any of your conversation. And don’t even think of harming my sister.” Lucas said it very sternly. Amelia was happy that Lucas came to defend her but she was curious as to why would Lucas say that lady Louise thought of harming her, as she was just trying to have a conversation with her and mock her. “Lucas....” She started speaking but was stopped in between when Lucas gestured to her to keep her mouth shut.
