Chapter 3: Is He Your Boyfriend

Earlier that day

Gabriel was done with his work and was ready to head home when Nathan came into his office and said.

“ Excuse me sir I'm sorry looks like there is a last minute meeting with one of our clients.”

“How come I didn't know about it” Gabriel looked really tired.

“ Well, if you had a secretary then you would've known earlier and” Nathan couldn't finish his sentence because Gabriel had a stern look on his face “ let's go he said.”

Nathan drove Gabriel to the clients meeting. However, that was just a pretext cause he was driving straight to the carnival. He knew if he invited Gabriel he would've certainly refused so he had no choice but to trick him.

Lately, his boss had so much immersed himself with work that he didn't have the time to relax. He just wanted Gabriel to take a break and breath some air out that office.

When they arrived, Gabriel alighted from the car and he didn't look pleased. “ Where are we and where is the client?” he asked.

“ Well looks like there was a last minute cancel..” Nathan couldn't finish when Gabriel cut him off “ I'm leaving”. Gabriel turned his back to leave when someone shouted.

“ Uncle Gab, you're here I'm so happy to see you.”

Gabriel turned around and saw his adorable little niece running towards him. He carried her in his arms with so much tenderness.

Nathan knew Gabriel had one weak point and it was his niece. She was the only one that could turn this stone hearted boss of his into an obedient puppy.

“Uncle Gab can we please go to the carnival?” She asked with pleading eyes.

“ Well, Nathan can go with you if that's what you want Lisa” Gabriel coerced her.

“But I want to go with my favorite uncle, please” she pleaded with her puppy eyes and Nathan knew Gabriel couldn't resist. He looked at Gabriel and if looks could kill, this might have been the end of him.

Gabriel sighed before saying “ fine but it won't be for long as uncle needs to rest ok.”

“Ok uncle I brought you something. Can you please put it on?” she handed a bear cap to him.

Nathan bit his lips to stop himself from laughing. He couldn't imagine his boss wearing something so silly.

Gabriel stared at the cap his niece handed to him. He hesitatingly took it. Nathan was gonna pay for tricking him, he thought to himself.

The three of them went to the carnival and Gabriel decided to get some candies for Lisa.

On his way back someone bumped into him and he couldn't believe it was the annoying lady he met earlier.

“It looks like you can't help bumping into people can't you?” Gabriel said but Andrea wasn't listening to him. She suddenly burst out laughing.

“ Hahahaha oh my gosh I'm sorry it's just that it doesn't match the aesthetics.what are you wearing sir?”

Gabriel stared at her emotionless before asking “ what are you doing here?”

“Well this is a carnival, a place open to everyone in case you didn't know sir” Andrea replied sarcastically.

Halo was looking for Andrea when he saw her talking to a man. He took a closer look and recognized the man. He was the CEO of Alpha Prime Provision, one of the leading provision companies in New York. Why was she so relaxed around him.

He went closer to them and said “ what took you so long Andeng, we've been waiting for you.”

Andrea was surprised Halo never addressed her as Andeng before.

“ Is he your boyfriend?” Gabriel asked.

“ No” Andrea replied. He is my friend.

“Best friend” Halo corrected.

The three kept staring at each other when Nathan joined them.

“Hi Andrea nice to see you again and who is this guy with you. Is he your boyfriend?” He pointed at Halo.

“No”. This time, it was Gabriel who replied.

The atmosphere became silent again until Lisa ran up to them.

“Uncle Gab, here you are. Who is this pretty aunty. Is she your girlfriend?”

“No” Andrea, Gabriel and Halo replied in unison.

“Ok, ehm why don't we all go see the parade.” Nathan suggested.

“I'm sorry I can't, I need to get my junior brother” Andrea politely declined.

“ No problem, we could wait” Nathan said.

“ No” Gabriel replied coldly.

Gees I wasn't coming anyway, Andrea thought to herself “ well, I think we should get going.”

Andrea and Halo left to get Matteo.

On their way Halo got some ice-cream for Matteo which made him very happy.

The night came to an end and they all left the carnival.

On their way, Halo asked “ who was the guy talking to you earlier” he knew who Gabriel was but he wanted to know their relation.

“ Well, he was the boss at the company I was interviewed today.”

“Oh I see, makes sense I mean he is so arrogant. Who does he think he is”. Halo hatqed rich people who looked down on others.

Arriving home, Andrea heard loud noises coming from inside. She knew Leo was responsible for it.

This wasn't the first time her elder brother came home drunk and everyone, he would pick a fight with their parents.

This was getting tiring but Andrea didn't know what to do anymore.

She entered the house to hear Leo shouting at their parents.

“ I told you guys to leave me alone. You're just a bunch of useless people. So let me live my life the way I please.” Leo shouted.

“ Leo please can you stop now, this behaviour of yours is getting tiring. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?” Andrea scolded.

Leo looked at his sister with hatred “ Well here comes the perfect daughter of the family. Oh I heard you didn't get the job so I guess you're just a loser like me.”

Andrea didn't know what to do anymore. He behaved like that all night till he finally passed out.

After that incident, Andrea accompanied Halo to his car. “ Thank you for being there” she said honestly.

“You don't have to worry, no matter what I'll always be there for you.” Halo reassured.

“How is the restaurant.” Andrea asked.

Halo had a restaurant. Even though it wasn't that big, it was modern enough and Halo was the best cook she knew.

“ well, it's going pretty well thanks.” Halo replied.

“ Can I ask you a question?” Andrea asked and Halo nodded.

“ Why did you call me Andeng earlier.”

“ Well, to be honest I don't know, maybe I got a little protective. I hope I wasn't out of place.” Halo wondered if now was the right time to confess his feelings.

“ I don't mind it just felt a bit” she paused. “Strange but it's fine.”

“ I want to tell you something Andrea. Please don't freak out ok” Halo going to tell her.

“ Ok, go on I hope it isn't serious.” Andrea said.

There was an earring silence as he stared at Andrea before he said.

Andrea since we were kinds I've always been.. I mean I..”

Ring ring

Andrea's phone was ringing and she hurriedly picked up. “Hello.”

“ Hey Andrea it's Nathan. I got your number from your CV. I wish to inform you that you have been chosen for the post.”

“ Oh my gosh. Are you serious but how the interview didn't go well” Andrea was surprised.

“Well, I guess he changed his mind” Nathan shrugged. “ Anyway you need to be in the office by 7 in the morning bye”

“Ok bye” she hung up. “ Oh my gosh, I can't believe it, I got the post Halo. I'm so happy.”

“I'm happy for you too andrea.” That was a lie. Halo didn't like the idea of Andrea working for that arrogant man.

“ You wanted to tell me something right, I'm sorry I got carried away”. Andrea was still excited over the news she just received.

“ Ehm, I think that isn't important now. You should get some rest it's pretty late.” Halo said and wished her a goodbye.

When Andrea returned to her room, she was over the moon. She couldn't believe how her luck had turned. She hurriedly set her alarm and went to bed.

The next morning Andrea got up from bed. She checked her phone and was shocked when she saw the time.

“ Oh my gosh it's already 8 am.”
