Marcus woke up to sunlight on his face. Real sunlight. Coming through a window with curtains instead of through cracks in the storage room door. For a moment, he forgot where he was. Then the pain in his nose reminded him. The guest room. Diana had let him sleep in a real bed. Marcus sat up slowly. His face throbbed. He touched his nose gently definitely broken. The whole area was swollen and tender. He looked around the room. Clean sheets. A soft mattress. A pillow that didn't smell like mildew. Three years. Three years since he'd slept in a real bed.
