Emma's POV
This was the first time I’d ever seen Leo go all out, and honestly, he didn’t even look like the same person. I always knew he could be cruel, but this? This was a whole new level of heartless.
I was relieved Stacy was still alive—though I could tell she hated me now—but how was I supposed to stop Leo? The guy was a full-on maniac.
Out of everyone, only five witches were still alive. They circled Leo and started chanting, probably hoping some spell could take him down. But Leo? He was faster, stronger, and a hell of a lot deadlier than they were.
Before I even realized what was happening, he used that insane vampiric speed of his, grabbed one of the witches, and bared his fangs. He was about to bite her when I screamed, “Please, don’t!”
He froze and looked at me. “Emma?”
He sounded like he was surprised to see I was still alive, as if he hadn’t even realized I was standing there.
“Yes, it’s me. I’m sorry for running. I’ll come back with you, I promise—just let her go.”
His eyes narrowed. “And what about Master?”
“He’s safe,” I lied through my teeth. Truthfully, I had no idea if Master was still alive or if the witches had already killed him.
Leo seemed to hesitate, loosening his grip on the witch’s neck. For a second, I thought I’d gotten through to him. But then Tabitha came out of nowhere, holding a knife to Master’s throat.
Master looked terrible—weak, drained, like he wasn’t even in control of his body anymore.
“Tabitha, no! Let him go!” I begged. “You don’t get it. Leo doesn’t—”
I didn’t even get to finish. Leo shoved his hand into the witch’s chest and ripped out her heart like it was nothing. If only Tabitha knew that he doesn't take kindly to threats.
I dropped to my knees, tears spilling down my face. How could anyone be this heartless? Leo wasn’t human. He was a monster.
The other witches, except for Stacy, all attacked him at once. They threw every spell they had at him, chanting like their lives depended on it. But Leo didn’t wait for their magic to take hold. He moved before they even finished their words, and just like that, heads started rolling across the floor.
I couldn’t bear to watch. I turned my face away, and that’s when I saw Tabitha. She still had the knife, and I watched in horror as she dragged it across Master’s throat.
Tears dropped down his cheek. His sorrowful eyes lurked into mine, and my heart shattered into pieces.
It was like he was saying, this is all your fault. Then he collapsed to the ground, blood pouring everywhere.
I clenched my chest. I couldn't breathe, and when I turned towards Leo again, he had just ripped out another witch's heart. My stomach churned, and I was completely frozen with fear, anger, and regret.
There's no stopping him. He's going to kill them all, and it's all my fault. But then his eyes landed On Master’s body, and he just froze, like he couldn’t even process what he was looking at. And then it hit him—his best friend was gone.
He dropped to his knees and let out a heart-wrenching cry, clutching his chest like it physically hurt him.
“Come here, child. Quickly!” Tabitha called out to Stacy.
Stacy moved slowly, her face full of fear. Leo didn’t even seem to notice her—at first. But just as she got close to us, he snapped out of it.
Before anyone could stop him, he grabbed Stacy. His hand was already inside her chest, ready to rip her heart out. My whole body started shaking with anger, and I had no clue what was happening to me.
I could feel something stirring inside me—something I didn't understand. But whatever it was I know Leo had awakened it when he went after Stacy.
This power surged through me, and before I knew it, I screamed, “Let her go!”
And then something insane happened.
The ground started shaking, harder than before, like the whole place was about to come down. My hands started glowing—this bright, white light spilling out of me. Then, all of a sudden, it exploded.
The blast hit everyone. Leo, the witches, all of them. It sent them flying, slamming them to the ground.
When the dust settled, Leo was lying unconscious, and everyone else was down, too. Whatever had just happened, it didn’t spare anyone.
I felt my legs give out and collapsed to the ground. Tabitha stared at me like I was a ghost before turning to Stacy.
“Now,” she said firmly.
Without hesitation, Stacy got up, pulled The Hold out of her pocket, and snapped it around Leo’s neck. As soon as it clicked into place, his powers vanished.
I thought The Hold only worked on witches. I didn’t think it could actually subdue Leo—he’s a hybrid, not a witch or wizard.
“Come on, we have to get out of here. This place is about to collapse!” Stacy’s voice yanked me out of my daze.
Tabitha glanced at me. “Keep her safe. I think she might be the chosen one.”
The chosen one? What was she talking about? There wasn’t any time to figure it out. Stacy nodded, pulled me to my feet, and started dragging me away.
“Go! Now!” Tabitha shouted as the ground began shaking violently. Cracks started spreading across the floor.
“What about you?” I yelled, looking back at her.
She gave me a small, calm smile. “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine now. Just go!”
Stacy tugged at my arm. “She’ll be okay, but we have to move!”
I hesitated for a moment, looking back at Leo. He was lying there, unconscious. It felt wrong to leave him like that, but honestly, he deserved it. He’d taken too many innocent lives today. So, I turned and ran with Stacy.
We didn’t stop until we were far, far away. Then came the sound—a deafening crash that echoed for what felt like forever.
Stacy froze, tears spilling down her cheeks. I knew why—her coven was gone. Everything she knew, destroyed because of me.
I hugged her tightly, guilt eating me alive. “I’m sorry,” I whispered. It felt so small compared to the damage I caused, but it was all I could say.
After a while, I wiped her tears. “We need to keep going,” I said softly.
But before we could take another step, a voice stopped me cold.
“You’re not going anywhere, you little runt.”
My heart dropped. That voice. Alpha Damon.
We turned to see him standing there with his men, looking smug and furious.
Damon. The man who ruined my life. If he had just investigated Camila’s death instead of blaming me, none of this would’ve happened. I wouldn’t be running for my life, and those witches would still be alive.
Even after putting a $1,000,000 bounty on me, he wasn’t satisfied. Now he was here, hunting me down himself.
“What did I ever do to deserve this?” I muttered, tears stinging my eyes. “Why?”
“You’re not escaping this time,” Damon growled. “Seize her!”
Before I could do anything, his warriors rushed me.
“Moon Goddess,” I whispered, tears running down my face, “please, not again.”
