The Forgotten Note

"Good morning boss."his secretary said into the phone as soon as Jordan picked it up. "Morning. What is it?" Jordan sighed. "The owner of Hudson Companies requested a meeting in an hour's time. We have to finalize the deal." "Can't we reschedule this? I'm kind of engaged right now Beatrice." He growled as he looked back at Gwen's curved figure on the bed. He didn't want to leave her yet. They could even have some more rounds before she left. He shook the thoughts off as Beatrice spoke. "I would have rescheduled sir but you need to be at Ian's dental appointment this afternoon by 2pm." she reminded him. "That's right. I almost forgot. Alright I'll be there in a few minutes. Get the others ready." he said and hung up. How could he have forgotten about his son's appointment because of a romp? He shook his head as he stood up from the bed. He had been sleeping when his phone rang. Jordan had almost rejected the call when he saw Beatrice's name on it. "Arghhh, what do you want Beatrice?" He had growled as he picked the call. His secretary never called unless it was something important. Now he wished he never picked the call as he strolled into the bathroom to have his bath. A few minutes later, he had dressed up in his dark suit and black shoes to match. "I have to leave Eve. We'll see some other time." he whispered and kissed her. Then he dropped a note on the table beneath her phone. That way, it would be conspicuous enough for her to see it. Gwen stirred in his hands. Jordan smiled and walked out of the room. He had to get to the meeting. "Hey Tyler. I'm going for one of my meetings. You can come in later in the day to clean up." he issued a command to his butler as he strolled out of the hotel's sliding doors. "Good morning sir." his driver collected his briefcase and opened the door for him. "I understand sir," Tyler replied as Jordan hung up. "Please can you drive a bit faster Richard? I don't want to be late for the meeting." he said, looking at his wristwatch frantically. "On it sir." his driver increased his speed a bit. The truth was that Jordan didn't want Tyler disturbing Gwen's sleep or seeing her like that. She had seemed so peaceful in her sleep. Moreover at the mention of Tyler yesterday, she had seemed shy. His butler could come in later to clean after she had gone. That way, she would feel comfortable around the house. Gwen rolled off the bed as she stared around the room. Why was the bed empty? "Adam, Adam?" She called as she looked to his bedside. It looked rough so he must have slept with his. Moreover, she had felt his arms around her at night. She was sure he slept with her but where was he? 'Adam, where are you?" She stretched as she stood up from the bed. No one answered. She looked to the sofa where her clothes stayed. It reminded her of the moments they shared last night. Her body still felt every touch of his. Gwen smiled as she remembered how he had whispered words into her ears at night. It was her best night ever. Her phone rang immediately. She picked it up from the table counter. The note Jordan left for her fell off the table to a corner as she turned around to pick the call from Jennifer "Hey Jen. Good morning" she massaged her neck as she spoke. "Why are you sounding groggy? Aren't you supposed to be up yet? Tell me you aren't just waking up." Jennifer found it difficult to believe. Gwen was an early waker. "Well I had a long night so you can imagine." Gwen blushed as she relayed the night's highlights to her best friend. "Jesus! You just hit gold girl! It's just that this gold might not last" Jennifer felt dejected. "I'll kill Malcolm if he ever subjects you to this again!" She screamed. "I can't describe the way I'm feeling right now Jen," Gwen revealed. "Girl! This should be a one night thing! Get out of there!" Jennifer scolded her. "I know right and he isn't here either. I'll have my bath and leave soon" she replied. "Alright, we'll speak later when you sound more human" Jennifer teased her as she hung up. Where was Adam? Gwen thought. He hadn't come in even during the call. Had he left already? No he couldn't just leave like that since they had a good night. She was about strolling into the bathroom when her attention caught a note on the bedside table. Gwen walked up to it. She was surprised. It was a ten thousand dollar note. Jordan had placed it on the table with the note he had written for her. Tears stung her eyes. It had meant nothing to him! He had paid her for her services and had left while she was here trying to describe these feelings that plagued her heart. "Damn you Gwendolyn! How could you ever think that he was pleased with you?" She cursed as she picked up the note. It was a clean note. Of course it'd be clean since it came from Jordan Adam Clark. The money repulsed her but remembering her mission, she put the money into her purse and strolled into the bathroom to wash her body. It had been a good night for both of them. It was time they parted. It just irked her that Jordan had done the dumping this time around again. Anyway she'd console herself with the money, that way it wouldn't hurt too much. "Hey Malcolm, when you are done at the workshop, you can come for the money." she told her brother after dialing his number. "Really Gwen? Seriously? You have it already?" Malcolm couldn't believe that his jobless sister had gotten two thousand dollars within two days. "How did you get it? Tell me!" He had to be sure that she didn't do anything stupid because of him. "Does that really matter right now? All that matters is that I have the money. Stop questioning me and come get it as soon as you can before Ledger roasts you alive!" She sounded more stern than usual. Gwen didn't want her brother to know what she had done for him. Again. She had been ripped off her heart twice now. She had caused the first. She was aching. All she needed to do was to eat and sleep when she got home. "Alright sis. Thank you. I'll be at your place tonight." Malcolm thanked her and she hung up immediately. She didn't mean to sound so stern with her brother but he would know if she had said anything else. She had masked her words so he wouldn't hear more. Her throat constricted as she looked around the room that had made her feel whole again. Why did every good thing have to slip through her fingers? Her senses were reminded of the few hours of bliss she had experienced again. "I didn't lose anything, instead I gained. I gained my hopes back and got enough money to save Malcolm" she consoled herself with the thought of it. "Now it's time to go back to the real world" Gwen spoke to herself as she looked into the mirror. She needed to start all over again. This night would be buried deep in her heart only to be resurrected at nights when she needed to feel loved once more. "Thank you Jordan Adam Clark.'' she whispered as she wore her shoes. It was worth it after all. She left the room immediately. The note Adam wrote her lay under the dressing table. Forgotten.
