She did walk really fast though, trying to outpace the panicked thoughts that raced through her head. She wanted to help, but she was just her. She wasn't anything special, certainly not special enough to safeguard an entire town against something that could pull it out and eat it like a box of candy. She had friends here, and even people who weren't her friends didn't deserve to get eaten. So what was she going to do? Was it better to try and fail or to leave and hope the distance between her and Winter Haven would be enough to put the thing back to sleep?
