The moon had risen high, though not nearly as full as it had been when Violet woke. She found herself alone inside the cave, lying on a comfortable bed of moss. She tried to sit up and groaned as the aches in her muscles reminded her that all was not well. Still, she felt better than she would have expected. Also hungry. Though her aching throat spasmed at the idea of swallowing, she knew she would need strength for healing, and so she rolled to her belly and rose to her knees, crawling from the cave in search of something to eat. She found the bounty of fruit she and Leontios had gathered the previous night. Was it, though? I have no idea how much time has gone by. Leontios himself lay beside the pool, stuffing grapes into his mouth, one after the other. She dragged herself over to him
