Day Two
Angie woke, feeling the ship bump softly into something she guessed was a dock. The sounds of women and children groaning surrounded her. Her heart rate accelerated. Where was Harper? What was going on?
As she stretched and tried to sit up, she briefly recalled her brave, or foolhardy, antics of the night before. Before sleeping, she had discovered that cupboard full of drugs. When she’d heard voices, she used her head to close the white door of the drug cabinet as quietly as possible before backing into the bathroom. She left the door open a c***k. A stocky shadow fell over the floor, but the broad-shouldered man descended only a few steps before returning to his fellows.
