Chelsie
Chelsie woke up the next morning and couldn’t believe how well rested she felt. When Joe had abruptly decided to leave the night before, she had been disappointed. Once he laid her down in bed and tucked her in, sleep had consumed her within minutes.
Just as she was about to brew her first cup of coffee, banging on her door startled her. She padded into her foyer assuming it was Joe again. Her smile faded when she opened the door to find her brother flanked on both sides by two grungy looking men.
“Jeff?”
“Hey, sis. Care if we come in?” Her brother sounded relaxed, but she could see the tension in his face.
Her nerves were racing as she continued to hold her place in front of her door. Her brother took a step forward and gently pushed her back into her foyer.
