Chelsie
“What do you think is happening out there?” Chelsie whispered to Stephanie.
“If they’re not shifters, nothing will happen unless there’s gunfire. Gunfire always changes everything, but since we haven’t heard anything yet, it’s safe to say everyone’s alive and well. For now.”
The locks clicked open on the truck, startling both of the women. When Chelsie looked up, she let out a relieved breath when she saw Jake.
“It’s them, we’re good,” she confirmed to Stephanie.
They filed out of the truck. Chelsie couldn’t stifle her gasp when she saw Nick in handcuffs lined up with several other nameless faces. She sought out Joe, finding him just as he was disconnecting a call.
“Hey,” she said, her voice soft.
“Hey.” He pulled her into his strong embrace.
