For the past five days, we had been extremely cautious. Juliane had kept me in a private ward where only she was permitted to enter. Grandma would slip out to arrange our departure and then quietly return. I had to leave the hospital once to withdraw all the money in my account, including the alimony.
Finally, everything was ready. Thanks to one of Grandma’s old friends, we had managed to secure a house in the human city and obtain new identification documents without much difficulty. She had also transported our belongings there. All that remained was to mask our scents and leave.
I honestly didn’t know how to express my gratitude to Grandma and Juliane. They had both done so much for me.
