Chapter5

ADA The following morning, I woke up to a message from Adrain. He says that I should meet him in his home office for the rejection. For us to put an end to this, we need to reject each other. Surprisingly I don’t cry. I feel strong and the pain is less now. I can do this. I can go through with the rejection and nothing will happen to my baby. I plan on meeting Juliane today but I will go after the rejection in case I need medical attention. Grandma is skeptical of me going alone. She wants to go with me in case there’s any way she can help. But I tell her that I will be fine. I can do this on my own. I take a taxi to the pack house. When I arrived there, it’s quiet. I can’t see any of the workers. I take a deep breath as I input the code, push the door open and walk in. I walk towards his office and stop when I hear giggling. I stop as I clench my fist. I will recognize that voice anywhere any day. How can he ask me to come here if he has company with Sarah. Does he plan on rejecting me in front of her? My body starts shaking. I know I’m strong but I don’t think I can bear it if he rejects me in front of Sarah. I don’t want to see the triumphant look on Sarah’s face when I break down from the pain of rejection. It’s going to remind me of all those times she broke me. I take a deep breath trying to stop my body from shaking. ‘You can do this Ada. You can do this.’ I chant trying to make myself strong. I won’t break. Not in front of Sarah. After I’m calm and breathing normal again, I knock on the door. His deep voice ushers me in. I gently pull the door open and walk in. My eyes fall on Sarah sitting on his lap, clinging onto him. Her light blue eyes stare at me and there’s a mischievous smirk on her lips. Typical Sarah, this is the way she would smirk after making me the villain and she the victim. I don’t want to remember the bullying and all the pains I went through because of her. They traumatized me. And right now my body is shaking out of its own will. It’s a natural response. Seeing someone that made your life a living hell after five years, I guess this is the way I should react. But then I remember my baby. I have to be strong for it. And I promise not to break in front of Sarah. Taking a deep breath, I gather my composure and look at them with no fear or pain. “Ada, it’s not what you think,” she says with something like fear in her eyes. She tries to sit up from Adrian’s lap but he stops her. I scoff. What a pretentious b***h. “It’s really not what you think.” She adds, acting all innocent. I ignore her and focus on Adrian who is staring intently at me. There’s a look in his eyes which I can’t comprehend and I don’t give a f**k either. “Are we doing this with her here?” “Give us a minute, Sarah,” he says with a soft tone and gaze. “Sure,” Sarah says and sits up from his lap as she walks away. I feel relieved knowing that she won’t be here while Adrian rejects me. “Why didn’t you go with the car and other things I got you?” He asks. There’s no coldness in his voice but there isn’t any emotion either. “I don’t need them.” I reply sarcastically. There’s a frown on his face but he doesn't push it. “Then let’s get this over with.” “I’m ready.” I say with determination. I need to be strong to take the pain of this rejection. For my baby. I take a deep breath, put my mind at ease as I wait. “I Alpha Adrian De Mevius rejects you, Ada Baldwin as my mate and Luna.” The pain erupts in my chest as it rips my heart apart. I can feel the bond violently tear through me. I take a deep breath trying to remain strong. I don’t let it break me. For my baby. I keep my head up and I can see the surprise look in Adrain’s eyes. He didn’t expect me to keep my head up and remain strong. I mean, anyone will break from the pain. “I, Ada Baldwin, accept your rejection.” The final pull of the bond breaks and the pain intensifies but I remain strong. I grit my teeth refusing to break. I’m breathing hard, luckily the wall is close by. I lean on it. I look into his eyes. Is that worry and something else? Disappointment? I don’t focus on it as I use all my strength and pull myself from the wall. My body is giving in but I will rather die than faint in front of him. At this point, I really wish I allowed grandma to come with me. I didn’t know it would be like this. “Ada!” I hear his panic voice and the next thing I’m in his arms. My lids are heavy, trying so hard to close but I won’t let them. “You are weak, let me take you up to your room.” “I have no room here,” I mutter with so much bitterness. “Let me go.” I weakly push him away and stand on my feet as I stagger towards the door. “Stop being stubborn Ada.” I glare at him. I hate the fact that I’m the only one feeling so weak. He’s an Alpha. The rejection will break him but not as much as it will do to me. “I can take very good care of myself.” I push myself out of his office and stagger my way outside the building. It’s a good thing I didn’t meet Sarah on my way out. I don’t want her to see me this weak. “At least let Owen drive you home.” Adrain followed me outside. I don’t argue about that. I enter the car and ask Owen to take me to the hospital. “I want to see doctor Juliane.” That’s the last thing I say before darkness clouds me inside the car. The only thing in my mind is the safety of my baby.
