CHAPTE FOUR

Isabella heard her name. It was really quick but she heard it right. Her father had always told her not to answer a call if the voice wasn’t familiar. It was an age old myth that entails evil. But she couldn’t just ignore it, she then decided to check on her master as it has been a few minutes since she left his bedroom. She knocked on his door but he didn’t answer. She knocked again and called his name, still no reply. So she opened the door. Isabella found her master unconscious on the floor, gasping for breath. Panic surged through her, but she quickly assessed the situation. She knew he wouldn’t want her to call anybody after the last incident. Her training and innate caring nature kicked in. She retrieved his EpiPen from a drawer where she knew it would be, administered it to him. “ what had happened” she thought to herself. She looked around his room and saw the pie on the floor. Oh no, something was wrong. Did she put too many sugar or was it tasteless. But the gardener thanked her for the delicious snack. She was going to lose her job and she was sure of that. The adrenaline-fueled minutes felt like hours. Isabella knelt by Alessandro’s side, her hands trembling, as she watched for any sign of improvement. Slowly, his breathing began to stabilize, and color returned to his face. “ what did you add in the pie?” Alessandro asked furiously. “ it was peach , master. I didn’t know you were allergic, I’m so sorry”. Isabella begged already in tears. “ Did you not go through the list in the kitchen or are you an illiterate?” “ I’m very sorry , master. It skipped my mind. I didn’t know you’ll be coming home early, so I made for the rest of us in the house,” “ Get out” Alessandro thundered. “ Ok sir” And Isabella ran out. Emily couldn't hold back her tears, and as they fell, she hastily wiped them away, but she couldn’t stop it. It was her fault that her master almost died. She ran to her room and lay on her bed and sobbed into her pillow. She would’ve been charged for murder and her family would be so heartbroken. Meanwhile, Alessandro was pacing around his room. Thinking about how he would’ve been dead if she didn’t come to his aid. She had almost killed him and she saved him still. Maybe he shouldn’t relieve her of her duties, because she was actually a ver hardworking girl and she had saved his life twice. He sat on his bed and looked over at the pie which she hadn’t cleaned up. He was going to call her after he was done taking in what had happened today. He decided to rest for some time. He was later woken up by a knock. He knew she was here to clean up. “Come in” “ Thank you. Master, I’m very sorry for what I did today. I would never repeat it” “ did you cry?” Alessandro asked as he looked over at her puffy eyes and red cheeks. “ No… I mean yes, I’m so sorry master” In that moment, Alessandro felt sorry for yelling at her. It was really stressful earlier considering the fact that he almost died. He looked over at the mess and at Isabella. “Miss Lorenzo let’s go for a walk” Isabella was shocked at his statement. She was really confused but she had to do whatever he said. She owed him a lot. “ ok master, but let me cl…….” Alessandro took her hand. “ follow me now” he ordered. They strolled along the path of the mansion’s garden. It was a change that unfolded subtly, like the gentlest whisper of the wind, and it left Alessandro bewildered and Isabella introspective. Alessandro had always been a man of logic, control, and predictability. But in the presence of Isabella , he found himself confronting the unexpected. It was a journey of emotions he had not embarked upon willingly, nor did he fully grasp the nature of the path he was on. He couldn't help but notice the way her smile calmed in his heart and how her voice illuminated his world. Her nearness brought an inexplicable sense of serenity that he couldn't find elsewhere. Their conversations, once practical and business-like, now meandered into personal realms, sharing experiences, dreams, and aspirations. She was talking about the weather and how sorry she was. She was saying too many things at the same time. But he could only focus on her eyes, lips, smile and voice. He didn’t even know what was wrong with him. He needed to speak to his doctor. Now she was pointing at a flower and asking a question. She was tapping him on his shoulder now and calling his name. Wait , “he was master” he thought as he woke up from his reverie. “ Master , what flower is this? It’s so beautiful.” “ Not as beautiful as you” Alessandro thought to himself. “ I do not know, do you?” “ me neither” Isabella laughed as they continued strolling. As he navigated his own emotional maze, he was unaware of the shift occurring within him. He couldn't deny the allure of Isabella’s companionship, the comfort he found in her presence, or the warmth that enveloped him when she was near. Their interactions were no longer merely about employer and maid; they had transformed into a deep connection that defied classification. Isabella, on the other hand, was navigating uncharted territory as well. She had always been committed to her role, dedicated to her duties, and professional to the core. Yet, the growing connection with her billionaire employer was something she had never anticipated. Her admiration for him had evolved into something more complex, and she had found herself pondering the nature of their interactions. As they talked, a moment of silence hung between them. It was a silence filled with unspoken thoughts and a palpable tension. Alessandro gazed at Isabella , his heart pulsating in a rhythm that defied his usual sense of control. Their eyes met, and in that unguarded moment, they glimpsed the depths of their unspoken emotions. It was a realization that washed over them like a wave, catching them both by surprise. Alessandro didn’t know what was going on with him. He pulled her closer and studied her face. She had freckles and it was beautiful. Without thinking much, he placed his lips on hers.
