EPISODE 8 CONNECTIONS

CALIFORNIA: SAN FRANCISCO. Weeks had passed since the incident with Oscar, and Riana had learned to move on. One weekend, Riana, Rachael, and Emory gathered in Emory's room, discussing their plans and dreams. "How are things are going with Mr. Austin?," Rachael asked Emory. "Cool," Emory replied. "So, do you still want to get him to prove a point?" "Yeah," Emory muttered slowly, drawing out her words. The girls were excitedly chatting about their future plans. "I just can't wait for us to graduate and go to university," Rachael said, already tired of high school. "You just can't wait to be a writer," Emory teased Rachael. "Me too, I can't wait to go into modeling," Riana said excitedly, jumping down from the bed and cat walking. "Go, baby, go!" Rachael and Emory cheered Riana on. "Attitude, please," Emory said, and Riana flipped her hair backwards, cat walking sexily. "I hope our dreams come true," Emory said. "Yeah, I can't wait to fall in love and get married," Rachael said. "Good for you," Emory replied. "I just want to live my life to the fullest," Emory added. "I guess you also want to die a virgin," Riana teased. "No, of course, I plan on...being with Austin," Emory clarified. "I feel like I would be more fulfilled if I do." "I just hope you don't get caught in your own games," Rachael warned Emory. "Don't worry, I won't," Emory replied confidently. As weeks went by, Emory and Austin grew closer, texting each other regularly and sharing meals in his office. The sparks were there, but they didn't notice. One day, Austin walked into their class to teach and didn't notice Emory, who was engrossed in her phone. He texted her, asking where she was. Emory raised her head, caught his eye, and smiled sweetly. Austin winked back, and none of the students noticed. Later, in Austin's office, they discussed their future plans. "What do you want to be in the future, Emory?" Austin asked. "What do you think?" Emory teased. “Weirdo” Austin said. "You're not serious," Emory replied. "Well, I want to study law," Emory said. "Nice," Austin said. "I'm going to take over my father's company, hence my studying business." "Wow, nice dream," Emory exclaimed. "You're going to be a CEO very soon." "Yeah," Austin said calmly. "Which university do you attend?" Emory asked. "Crown star University," Austin replied. "Nice, I am not sure of the university I want to attend for now," Emory said. "I promise I won't forget you." "Don't be so certain," Austin warned. "The human brain works in ways that once it meets new people, it forgets the old ones. Plus, you might lose my contact or might lose yours." "Don't worry, I won't forget you," Emory assured him. "Or are you planning on losing my contact?" Austin stared at her gently, without response. AUSTIN’S POV I stared at her as she spoke; there was just something about her that made me want to know her more. Her eyes, despite being happy, beamed with sadness. I noticed that she loved pouting whenever she was speaking, and that made her look even more beautiful. She was doing something to me, and I knew it. Just who was this teenager? I stared at her lips as she told me more about herself. "Get your s**t together, Austin," I thought in my mind. "She's just a teenager, and besides, you have a girlfriend." Speaking of girlfriends, Anna and I hadn't spoken for a while. I guessed she was busy, as I was. "You're not that busy," my subconscious mocked. I could also admit that I wasn't that busy. Most of my time was spent with Emory, and I must confess that I liked her company. "I have to go now; lunch break is over," she spoke, smiling at me sweetly, bringing me back from my thoughts. "Okay, I'll text you," I said to her, staring at her as she walked out. EMORY’S POV As I walked out of his classroom, I thought about how wonderful the past few weeks had been. I was getting closer to Austin, and I found myself getting drawn to him the more I got to know him. I didn't know if I was in love with him or if I just wanted to prove that I could get any guy. All I knew was that he made me happy a lot. There was just something about his quiet but cute self. When he told me the name of the university he attends, I decided I was going to study there too. I wanted to be part of his life, and I didn't know why. "Are you back from your crush's office?" Riana asked. "Yeah," I replied. "You both have gotten quite close," Rachael said. "Are you sure you're not doing anything with him?" "No, I'm not doing anything with him," I responded. "Are you in love with him?" Riana asked. "No, I'm not," I replied sharply. I could feel my heart pricked when I said that. "Easy, we're not quarreling," Rachael said. Our exams were approaching, and I couldn't wait to graduate from high school and get into the university. I wanted to know what the future held for me and Austin. I wasn't going to admit it, but I knew I was in love with him. They just didn't know, but the connection between them was growing. She was a distraction to him, yet he was distracted without her. He was breaking her walls, and she knew it. He was the first guy she had gotten so close to for so long. He made her happy, and she knew it. Austin had no time for his girlfriend again. Even he felt the spark. Austin's school break would soon be over, and he couldn't bring himself to tell Emory that he was leaving soon. The thought of not seeing those brown but dark eyes made him shudder. She was weird, bold, and daring, yet something about her made him want to know all of her. He just hoped he wasn't making a mistake by opening up to a student, especially when he had a girlfriend. He loved Anna, but what he felt for her was nothing compared to how he felt about Emory. He wasn't going to admit it, but he liked this weirdo. Emory made sure to convince the girls into attending the same university as her. Passing the university exams wasn't a problem since they were intelligent; she just wanted her friends by her side. "I can't believe you're being like this because of a guy," Rachael mocked Emory. "F**k you, mother hen," Emory replied. "So, do you still want to die single?" Rachael asked her. "I don't know," Emory responded. "I just can't wait to be an adult and explore life," Emory said. "But what if Mr. Austin has a girlfriend?" Riana spoke up suddenly, and Emory's heart sank. "But what if he really has a girlfriend?" Emory thought, feeling her heart break. But what was she thinking? He was a handsome young guy, a university student, for that matter; so, he should have a girlfriend. She knew that in this game, she was going to get played.
