CHAPTER 8 – Leo’s Side

388 Words
Leo’s POV The line went dead. My knuckles turned white as I gripped the phone tighter. “Call him back,” I ordered my driver. He did. Three times. Voicemail. My chest tightened. I wasn’t a man who panicked easily. But this… This was different. She was different. I had barely slept in days. My thoughts constantly circled around Olivia—her pale face, her trembling voice, the way she looked at me like I was both her problem and her protection. Now I didn’t even know if she was safe. I checked the address my guy last reported. "Turn around," I told the driver. "Head for Hollow Street, behind Weller Market. Now." He didn’t argue. He’d never heard that tone from me before. When we got there, the alley was dark and half-blocked by trash bins. Broken glass crunched under my shoes as I stepped out of the car. My eyes scanned the ground. There. Her bag. Tossed, open. Her phone still inside. Fear hit me like a punch to the chest. I looked around. No signs of a struggle. No blood. But no Olivia either. Where the hell was she? I turned to my driver. "Check with the nearby stores for CCTV footage. I want eyes on every damn corner of this block." "Yes, sir." My phone buzzed again. New number. Unknown: “Next time, you won’t find just a bag.” My blood turned ice. Olivia’s POV I didn’t know where I was. One minute I was running. The next… everything went black. Now, I was waking up on a cold floor. The room was dim, the air thick with dust. My head throbbed. Something had hit me—hard. I sat up slowly, trying not to scream from the pain. A single bulb flickered above me. The walls were gray. No windows. The door was metal. Locked. I crawled to it and banged weakly. “Hello?” No answer. I banged harder. “Help! Somebody—please!” Still nothing. Panic clawed up my throat. Tears burned my eyes. Who brought me here? And why? Was this about Leo? The baby? My mind raced. My stomach turned. Then I heard it. Footsteps. Slow. Calm. Confident. Then a voice. "You should’ve left when I warned you." My blood ran cold. The door clicked. And opened.
