Meghan POV
I had been privileged to witness a ridiculous display of masculinity. And to be honest, I even think that Leo did not give his all on purpose. I know him and I know his real power. He clearly did not show all his abilities. I would have liked Leo to give him a beating...
I finally felt relieved about driving home with Aston. Leo lived only a few minutes’ walk from the sports center. He didn't need to be brought back.
I took the opportunity to finally tell Aston everything in detail. I could tell him all that had happened without feeling judged. When I finished, he was silent for a few minutes. He seemed to be thinking about what might explain Jax's behavior. “I'll observe him tomorrow to try to figure out what's going on. Don't get offended, but I'm surprised he started teasing an omega when I knew what kind of woman he's dating.” he said.
This thought puzzles me. Was he a ladies' man? Finally, I knew that he had already had affairs. But so much?
I didn't have a big appetite that night, but I knew my parents were eager to hear about our return to school. So, I nibbled a bit and made sure to omit the details.
I took my shower and slipped under the sheets. My phone vibrated on my bedside table. Johanna was calling me.
"Meghan, Aston told me you gave him the details of your day to him too!" 'Aston told Johanna about it?'
- Yes, it did me good to explain to him. He too looks puzzled.
- I'll give you my opinion: Jax has a crush on you but he doesn't know how to approach things. Do you like it?
- Uh… hard to say. It's not like we were fated mate.
- Precisely, he may not have found his mate yet and wants to listen to his heart. We never know. Maybe he's your mate, but you won't know for a few months.
- Johanna, let's get serious. It is extremely unlikely.
- I know it is… but I still want to test my theory: he likes you and I want to know for sure.
- I know you, you won't let go until I say yes.
- Say yes, say yes, say yes please, she begged me.
- OK, but I'll give you a week. You know me too and you know that I don't like being the total center of attention. I leave that to Melania. »
Johanna burst out laughing. She knew how true what I had just told her was. She always had to do more than the others. And in terms of the rivalry around Jax, it was going to be a tough matchup. My friend was delighted to be able to test her theory and take the opportunity to drive her sister crazy.
“Thank you, Meghan! I have thousands of ideas. But the first is the easiest and I know you'll get hooked. Tomorrow, I don't want the “chill” Meghan. I want a skirt, sexy makeup...
- Calm down, I go to school, not to a nightclub.
- Go get into the game!
- Well, I'll think about it and I'll send you a picture tomorrow.
- I'm counting on you! good night, future Luna! »
I burst out laughing before hanging up. Johanna was quite a number. I loved being her friend. She always knew how to make me smile.
This night was surprisingly better than the previous one. The sports session certainly had something to do with it.
Before falling asleep, I had thought about an outfit that would suit Johanna and me at the same time. This summer, I bought myself a little dress found in a thrift store. It had cost me almost nothing, it was a real bargain. But I have not found the opportunity to wear it. I fell in love with this dress because it was the color of my eyes. It was an entirely turquoise dress, with thin straps. The neckline was draped and highlighted my chest without letting the others see into my navel. She came to mid-thigh and molded my buttocks particularly well. To counterbalance the sexy look of this dress, I opted for white sneakers.
Finally, the make-up. I was an eyeliner addict that I mastered quite well. It was my little girly talent. I let my hair down. I already knew that Johanna would scold me if I tied them.
Before going down to lunch, I sent a photo to my friend. A few seconds later, she sent me a myriad of emojis with heart-shaped eyes. She approved my outfit.
My brother and my father raised their eyebrows when they saw me coming down the stairs: I was on time and rather prepared. My little sister Alixia whispered in my ear that I was very pretty. This morning was also her return to school. She was stressed but also excited.
Before going out, I played Johanna's game. She asked me during lunch to post a picture of me in this outfit on social media. I played a game. My pose was a little suggestive, but I liked the challenge.
Alixia left with a friend of hers and that friend's mother. Aston and I took my car. When we went out of our house, we came face to face with Johanna and Leo. I should have expected that. She didn't want to miss a crumb of this day.
So, I took the wheel. I had managed to find a somewhat old car during the summer that had the merit of being convertible. The weather was still nice, so we could still enjoy it. Johanna finishes briefing our whole group on the trip. Aston was pensive but smiling at Johanna's jokes. Johanna was overwhelmed by her theory, and I felt Leo's gaze out of the corner of my eye. Knowing him, he wasn't going to shy away from testing Jax's jealousy…
I parked in the parking lot in front of the school. I immediately saw Jax's black SUV a little further away and Melania's car parked next to it. A little further on, on the steps that led to the entrance hall of the school, the group was already seated in their usual corner. Looking up, I met the cold gaze of Jax, who was sitting casually. Leo saw it too. He jumped over the door to quickly open mine and take the opportunity to put his hand on the small of my back.
“He jumped up and he looked angry!” Johanna exclaimed. She was ecstatic. She savored every second as if in a trance. We all burst out laughing. Her good humor was contagious. Me, I was a little embarrassed, but I would be lying if I said that feeling his desire didn't turn me on a little too.
From a distance I saw that Jax had made sure to turn his back on us. Strange… when we arrived at the bottom of the steps that lead to the hall while we reminisced about memories of the past year, Leo suddenly put his arm around my shoulders. This gesture, which was innocuous before, was now clearly intended to provoke Jax. Besides, was he going to react? Johana seemed to be holding her breath. But, as we passed him, he had no reaction and turned his back on us again. Had he chosen to ignore me now? I was sure I heard a growl...
Despite Johanna's jokes, I wanted to concentrate more on my lessons. In any case, more than the day before. Aston and Johanna had chosen a joint option this year and Leo had a sports lesson in the morning. So, I found myself alone and decided to opt for the high school library to seriously resume my lessons from the day before.
The library was deserted, and I loved this atmosphere. I sat aside, put on my headphones and immersed myself fully in my revisions. After a while, a movement caught my attention. I was obviously not alone in the library.
I dared not ask aloud if anyone was present for fear of disturbing other students. I took off my headphones. I heard giggles... and groans. It intrigued me. I ended up getting up and taking a turn on the shelves of books, having taken care to have a book in my hands to be able to pretend that I was looking for a shelf. It would have been very fun if I had been able to surprise two professors in full frolic.
Unfortunately, that was not it. Not at all even. In the back of the library, Melania was facing the occult books section, her skirt up, while Jax was pounding her, holding her hair with one hand and digging his fingers in the flesh of her hips. I felt my throat go dry instantly. A cold sweat on my back. The book slipped out of my hands and landed on the floor with a thud. Melania and Jax turned their heads. I didn't take the time to decipher their reaction. I had fled to quickly retrieve my things and leave.
Johanna's ideas had gone into my head a bit. But this scene did not make me laugh. A lump had lodged in the hollow of my throat and my lower abdomen had tightened like a cramp during painful periods. I was in physical pain from this vision. From now on, everything seemed obvious to me: this guy had no feelings for me. He was having fun flirting with omegas to pass the time and that was it. I felt ridiculous in my little satin dress. What had I believed? In truth, I can't even blame him. He told me that it wasn't very original for an omega to fall in love with an alpha. And the hell he had been right. I was stupid. Right after I reached the parking lot, I heard my name being shouted in the distance. Tears were welling up at the edge of my eyelashes.
“Meghan! »
