I walked back into the kitchen and immediately spotted Zelda.
She was standing exactly where I’d left her.
Except something about her had changed.
Her shoulders were rigid. Her face was pale. And when she looked up at me, there was something in her eyes that hadn’t been there before.

I crossed the kitchen and grabbed her by the elbow.
“Come with me.”
