Shari and I were enjoying a rare break. For some unknown reason, Alpha Kayden had given the outdoor staff the day off. I personally thought it was weird, given who Alpha Kayden is, and the type of guy he is. But according to Shari, it wasn't all that unusual for him to do this sort of thing.
We were relaxing in the stream where the water was at its shallowest. We were lying down in the cold water letting it flow over us. As we lay there in the water, I felt more relaxed than I had in a long time.
"This is nice, huh?" Shari said quietly as we lay there in the flowing water.
"It sure is," I replied. "I wonder why he gave us the day off," I added.
"Who knows," Shari replied dismissively. "Just enjoy it while you can," she said, as she lay there gazing up at the sky.
