The moment I saw my parents, I hurried over to them. My parents embraced me in tight hugs. The three of us stood there in a small cluster. For a moment, it was like no one else existed. I clung to them as they held me in their tight embraces. I don't know how long we stood there holding onto each other in silence before my father whispered, "We are so proud of you."
"Thank you," I whispered back.
"Let's go. We are taking you out to celebrate," my mother declared happily, as she began eagerly dragging me towards my father's Escalade.
I couldn't help but laugh happily at her excitement as we made our way to my father's car. My father unlocked the car and the three of us climbed inside. Once we all had our seat belts on, my father started the car, and a few seconds later we were on our way to begin our celebration.
When I saw where my parents were taking me to celebrate, I let out a sigh of amazement. "Wow," I whispered, filled with excitement. My father pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant, and I quickly unclipped my seat belt and hopped out of the car. I stood there staring at the restaurant before me. I had never been to this restaurant before, but I had heard people talk about it... a lot.
Some of those were people like me. People who had only ever driven past this place... like ten thousand times, and wondered what it was actually like inside. And a few of them were those who were considered the elite members of our small community. Those who had money to burn and considered themselves to be the high society of our town.
This restaurant was for a unique clientele. It was way out of my parents' price range. So, to be standing here in front of this restaurant and knowing we were about to enter it, had me almost jumping out of my skin with excitement.
I looked at my parents, a smile upon my face, and asked them, "Are you guys for real right now?"
"We sure are," my father claimed proudly.
"But... this place... it's so expensive," I stated, as I looked back to the restaurant once more.
"Well, how often do you graduate? We decided to treat you to a meal here, because we are so proud of you," my mother gushed.
"But can you afford it?" I asked, worried about their finances.
"It's fine, sweetheart. Don't stress. You should be enjoying yourself today," my mother said.
"Come on, let's eat. I'm starving," my father said, rubbing his hands together eagerly.
"Honey, I think you should take your graduation garments off before we go inside," my mother stated.
I did what she said and removed my graduation cap and gown and threw them onto the back seat of my father's car. Once the car was locked, we began walking into the restaurant, and I couldn't keep the smile off my face.
Alpha Kayden
I was sitting in the restaurant that our pack owned. It was an upper-class restaurant that catered to an elite crowd. I had Liam and my Gamma, Caleb, seated at the table with me. We were waiting for our lunch order to be brought out to us. My attention was drawn to the door as it opened, and three people walked into the restaurant. Immediately I could tell they were humans. My eyes were immediately drawn to the youngest woman in the group.
Beside me, Caleb whistled softly, before saying, "Pretty girl."
"She sure is," Liam agreed, looking at her like a hungry wolf eyeing off a helpless rabbit.
I looked back at the table, and picked up the photos I had laid out on the table when we had first sat down. I began flicking through the photos, and a few seconds later I was gazing at a face smiling back at me from one of the photos. The face in the photograph I was looking at, was the face of the young woman who had just walked into the restaurant a few seconds ago. She was one of the graduates. I looked back at the girl who was now seated at a table with whom I was now assuming were her parents.
"Is she on the list?" Liam asked.
"She is," I replied.
"Well, she looks strong. And she is clearly fit. She could handle the workload," Caleb stated.
"I know she would be capable of handling the workload. I have done this before," I stated, throwing a glance at Caleb.
A moment later, I turned my gaze away from him and back to the table of humans. As I was watching the young woman, the young woman in question looked over at me. Her eyes met mine. As her eyes held mine, I could feel my wolf, Steel, wanting to take control. Eye contact was a big no, no, when it came to humans or lower-ranking wolves looking at Alpha's. It was seen as a challenge to make eye contact with an Alpha.
The girl kept her gaze locked with mine.
"What are you looking at?" the woman seated with her asked, before turning in her seat to look towards our table. The moment she saw us, her eyes widened in fear, and she quickly turned away saying, "Don't stare."
The girl looked away, and with the loss of eye contact, I felt like something was missing inside of me.

I couldn't help but continue to steal glances at the table where the three men were seated.
The man I had made eye contact with was the hottest guy I had ever seen in my life. He had muscles that even his shirt couldn't conceal. It was obvious that he worked out. He was someone who clearly cared about his health and fitness. And it was obvious to me that he was a guy who clearly knew he was good-looking.
I was willing to bet that girls threw themselves at him all the time. He probably had to beat them off with a stick. Not that I could blame a girl for throwing herself at him. He looked... practically edible.
But as I sat there stealing glances at him, the thought that kept nagging me was that I had never seen him or his friends around our town before.
