TWENTY-TWO Having been indoors for over a week, the sudden change of light on their exit was jarring. Still locked in the adjustment, Roxie didn’t notice anyone was around until a cacophony of voices rose. Her name. They were calling her name. Who? Why? A blow of shock tried to stop her feet, but Ballard tugged hard. Someone was behind her, Zairn, his body was literally against her back, propelling her forward. People. There were people all around.
