Ava's POV "Ava, please can you sit, let's talk?. There's a lot we need to tell you. " My dad finally said, breaking the silence. I scoffed. "There's absolutely no need for me to sit because I heard it all... I was picked up on the streets and have been living my whole life thinking I have a family, not knowing I am just an orphan with no identity that was picked up from the street." I narrated with tears freely streaming down my face. "Awww… it seems like you now know where you belong, so you should leave today because I am sick and tired of seeing your face" my mom said, going to grab another drink. I just figured out why she had always hated me and put me last in everything she was doing. I felt so hurt and heartbroken at her words, but I was more angry. "No Elizabeth. You can't tell her to leave today. The poor girl….." My dad was saying but….. "Don't!.... don't Mr. Lockwood." I cut him. "Do not call me that, I don't need your pity, besides, your wife is right. I should pack my things and leave today so I won't cause any more trouble" I said, and then I faced my mom. "You've finally gotten rid of me now uh….., you're happy now, right?. I am leaving now, so you'll finally have this house all to yourself". I said as I headed for the staircase to my room. "Well, good riddance" I heard her say as I climbed. I couldn't look back or respond, not because I couldn't, but because tears had already started flowing again from my eyes and I did not want them to see me like that. I didn't want them to see me as weak. I slammed the door to my room and started to pack up. I could not think straight anymore, but I just kept packing trying to hold my tears back. I heard a small knock on the door followed by the door slowly opening. "Can I come in, sweetie?" I heard a soft elderly voice. It was Ms. Meridith ,the nanny. She must have heard what happened. She let herself in. "Yes sure" I said as I quickly started wiping off my tears with the back of my hand. She came to comfort me. She told me about how my parents once loved me and cared until they were finally able to have their biological child. As much as I wanted to know about them, the only thing on my mind was how to find my biological parents. I asked Ms Meredith about them but the only thing she could tell me was the orphanage I was adopted from. That was the starting point, and I was eager to know more about my true self. I was about to take a cab when I remembered Chloe. I needed to take her with me. I would not leave her with Neil and Scarlett. So I went to Neil's house….. On getting to the house, I didn't expect that the treatment I received from Neil, he could be cruel to me for all I cared, but how could he stop me from seeing our daughter? "I am sorry Ava, but I can't let you have her". Neil said. "You do not have what it takes to take good care of her. "I might not have enough money to give her a comfortable life now but we both know that Chloe needs her mother now more than ever." I tried to explain. "That's why she has me." Scarlett said, joining in the conversation from behind. She walked up to me. " I'll be the perfect Mother for your Daughter. Don't worry she won't even notice your absence." She turned, facing Neil. "My husband and I will give her the best life, so why don't you go on with your miserable life and use the money we gave to you wisely." She said, I wanted to pull her hair so hard but I tried to hold myself back. I've never felt so used and betrayed in my life. "You both are going to pay for what you're doing to me." I stated. Scarlett suddenly burst into laughter. "I have heard that a gazillion times and of all people to try to threaten revenge... not you Ava," She paused. "You have nothing… No one…. Not even a real family." She made an emphasis on the last part. My heart sank. " So you knew about it all along?..... and you kept deceiving me just like mom and Dad did?". "In case you forgot, they are my parents, not yours, and why would I care about your life drama?." She rolled her eyes. "That's enough, Scarlett," Neil finally said. "Let's go inside." He turned to look at me. "I do not want to throw you out, so please leave." He said, then he grabbed Scarlett's hand to go in. "You forgot something", I found my words at last. They both turned to look at me. "What is it this time?" Scarlett snapped. Fighting back the tears from coming, "I don't need your money" I said as I took out the envelope that contained the money he had sent along with the divorce papers. "You can keep it", I stretched it out. "I do not need that" Neil said. Scarlett snorted and yanked the envelope from my hand. "Since you don't need it, then I'll go use it for something good you ungrateful wretch." I didn't reply to anything she said. I just left. All I kept thinking about was my baby. How do I take Chloe away from them? I didn't know what to do now, but for some reason I didn't shed a single tear again. It was time to fight back. I'll do anything to get Chloe back. Even if it meant using the last drop of my blood to bring Neil Adams down...
