Ava's POV
" Oh My Gosh Ava. Divorce papers were sent to you through your mail. Go sign them and stop making a scene. Leave now and do not let the reporters see you. "
I tried not to believe what I was hearing. I was not going to believe that Neil would treat me like I was not important. I am the mother of his child and I cannot let Chloe be without a complete family.
I will have to fight for this marriage not because I want to be loved by Neil, but because of our daughter, Chloe.
"I cannot let this happen mom, and you're not going to stop me" I said, already furious and determined. " Remember, you made me marry Neil in the first place. You said I would be doing my sister a favor and not tarnish the family image.
"You also said I had to keep my face and identity as Neil's wife a secret, and now you want me to sit and watch Scarlett marry Neil even when I already have a child for him!". Tears escaped from my eyes as I said those words.
" Will you stop being dramatic, Ava? It was an agreement and every agreement came to an end some day. Just get over it and move on, Ava." My mom said. For a while, she didn't sound like my mom. How does she expect me to move on just like that?
" What about Chloe, mom? Think about her. How will I move on when Chloe is involved?.... I cannot, mom. I'll have to speak with Scarlett, why is she being so wicked and ungrateful!".
"But Ava, I thought we had already spoken about this". I heard someone say from behind. It was Scarlett herself. " I thought you'd finally decided to stop coming in between Neil and me?" Scarlett said, sounding pitiful.
My eyes widened. What was she talking about? I looked at her and I caught the smirk at the corner of her lips. I soon realized what she was trying to do, but it was too late as people had started gathering awaiting the scene Scarlett was about to make. I was furious, and I was not going to let her get what she wanted.
"Scarlett, why are you doing this? After all these years, why are you being so selfish", I stated?
"Selfish?. You're the one who stole my fiancé from me for four years, Ava!" Scarlett exclaimed, sounding like the victim. You seduced him and had a child for him thinking he would be yours forever, but Neil still came for me because I am the one he loves."
"You liar! You ran away back then because you loved someone else, and you had eloped with your lover, but now you are here claiming to love him, I know you are up to no good!." I was so furious and irritated. "I cannot believe Neil let you fool him. He does not know you're just here for…."
"Will you stop all this nonsense Ava! " She said, cutting me off. "I know that you've always wanted the spotlight, but I did not know you'd go as far as telling all these lies to get attention, but it is not my fault that Neil did not settle for a classless lowlife like you" She spat.
I raised my hands, but I was stopped by Neil this time.
"That's enough!. You've done enough Ava!..." Neil said, looking at me with a frown. "...and don't you ever think of laying your filthy hands on my wife. You're so ungrateful Neil, I gave you all you wanted on the divorce papers and I even offered to get your face surgery done! But you still have the guts to show your dirty face here," he exclaimed.
I was so overwhelmed. They turned everything against me. Neil's words replayed in my head. I felt so numb, and my eyes were heavy with tears. I wanted to break down right there. I looked around and I saw different strange faces. Some recording and others just staring. I was not going to cry in front of all these people.
I looked again, and I sighted my Dad from afar. He did not say anything or interfere, but he only looked at me pitifully. He looked like he wanted to support me, but something was stopping him. I wondered what it was because I am his daughter, and he is meant to be at my side.
"Mom, can you please escort your daughter out of my wedding?" I heard Scarlett say.
I looked up at Neil and then Scarlett. "You're both going to pay for what you're doing to me." I said. "You're going to regret this!" I exclaimed, looking at Neil.
As I left the scene, I could feel that all eyes were on me. Like the whole world was staring at me. This was not the plan. I never envisioned this. I was the victim here, but nobody could see that. In their eyes, I was the villain who came to disrupt her sister's wedding.
I kept walking down the road not knowing where to go. I could not consider going home because I needed to clear my head. Chloe was safe with her nanny, so I did not worry too much. I went to a nearby store to get a bottle of beer. I was going to find a hotel or maybe a motel to sleep that night.
As I came out of the beer shop, an SUV pulled over right in my front. The jeep was dark and tinted, so I could not see who was in it.
I was being followed by a strange car. As I walked into the dark alley, I could see a tall figure walking towards me.
