Episode Ten Automated defense batteries are the anti-starship equivalent of automated defense drones, except that in most instances, Oversight considers them illegal. To my knowledge, only Veegolith Corp ever managed to make the things reliable enough for deployment, and even their models aren’t in any way mobile. More like giant mounted cannons with anti-starship capabilities through autonomous tracking. The thing that makes ADBs different from other defense emplacements is that they are truly autonomous: no need for loading or unloading munitions, no need for routine maintenance, and no need for live supervision of their performance.
