CHAPTER 10: After the flames cooled
The night air was colder now, the fiery heat of desire and lust that was blazing just now between us, had faded but refused to die completely… at least for me. I laid there for a moment, staring at the dark curve of the horizon, my breath still uneven, wondering what the hell had just happened. The woman beside me was silent, too silent.
I glanced at her. Emily.
Her hair was a wild mess around her face, her lips swollen, her skin streaked with sand. She looked wrecked, but not in the way I should’ve been proud of.
She was still lying on her back. Her chest rose and fell quickly, but her eyes…those intense blue eyes, were empty.
I couldn’t tell what was going through her mind. And I didn’t care to know. I was more concerned with my internal storm.
