CHAPTER 19: She’s not important The house was quiet except for the continuous hum of the drill in my hand. I had been working at installing a new security system for the house for the past hour. It was tricky how easily the weather changed in this town. It was around forty degrees, and not even the salty breeze from the sea could cool the perspiration from one's skin. Sweat trickled down my neck, sliding into the faint dip between my shoulder blades as I tightened another screw into the door frame.
