Sian printed her resignation letter then signed it. She would decide tomorrow about whether to hand it in or not, but she was more than 90 per cent sure about it. She didn’t like having a boss and being told what to do; she reckoned this was hard-coded in her DNA. She’d even considered reopening the Loggerheads but she wasn’t convinced that running a pub was in her genes and, well, she wasn’t about to start a crime syndicate, even if that was.
Clicking into her email, Sian filed the confirmation messages for the domains she’d registered, various combinations of her name, the words ‘detective’ and ‘DNA’. None of them felt perfect yet for what she wanted to achieve, if she did go ahead and set up the agency. She wasn’t sure she wanted to be involved
